VDO oil pressure gauge pegged past max.

Help!!! My guage is maxed out to the right. I started engine with the electrical wire off, when i was working on alternator. So from what i have read this is how it happened, now i need to know how to get it back to zero before i plug it back up. thanks i know someone knows the trick to this.

Check that the wire is connected to the oil pressure sensor. Often a max reading is a sign of an open circuit. (wire not connected, or bad ground at the gauge)

Here I have the same issue, I assume that you have a Monaco/cummins and depending on your model it doesn't appear to be much to worry about as there are 2 oil pressure circuits, one for the guage added by Monaco and one as part of the engine. If the engine sensor fails it will shut down. There is additional information spread around multiple entries

It's probably a sensor failure, a gauge fault or something dumb in the instrument panel computer. There's no way an engine oil pump can generate enough pressure to send the gauge off-scale high for real.

If it's an analog gauge, the spring that controls needle displacement may have failed.
