I am planning on going to a RV park that requires the exhaust from the genny to be vented to the top of the coach. I realize this is so you don't gas out your neighbor. How do I do this?? Can it be done and still look decent? Is this a common rule where the coaches are close together?? Hope some one can help me with this.
I posted this same thread under another reply as I don't know how to edit it from one thread to another so please excuse the blunder..Thx..Ted

Think about getting the Gen-Turi from Camping World. Install it when you park. Dis-assemble and store it away before you leave. I've had one for years and have used it many times.

Pricey but well worth it. I wouldn't even think about going the home made route on something this important.

I too have the Gen-Turi and am very satisfied with it. I have used it on my 04 Alpine and now on our Monaco. I bought ours from Amazon.com.

Rather than Camping World, try out sponsor RV Upgrades.

At dog shows we have to use either exhaust hoses or the stacks. I personally like the hose as I can place it down wind on either end of the coach. In the case of dog shows we have pens with the dogs set up so the stacks or hose both keep the exhaust away from the dogs as well as the neighboring people.
Even with the stacks the fumes get bad at times and I personally think it's rude to leave the generator going at night if the weather is cool enough for sleeping.
I have been smoked out before in the class C as the fumes from the neighbors stack was at the level of the cab overs window and the fumes came right in.

We'll probably visit the Abbotsford Air Show in August. It's dry camping on the airport grass and you're packed fairly close together. Last time we were there, with our old Class C, there were some teenagers from the next-door MH sleeping in a tent about 15' from our generator exhaust pipe. We had to wait for them to wake up before we could run the genny to cook breakfast.
An F-16 demo got them up and running!
Certainly, some form of high-level extension, maybe that can be swivelled to get the exhaust going with the wind, would be very useful.

There was a time when Onan specifically advised against the use of vertical exhaust pipe extensions, claiming they could create back pressure and exhuast leaks in the MH. It was in their manuals. Not sure if they still say this, however, as Onan itself now sells such pipes. Maybe they are just trying to sell more of their own vertical pipes! Anyway, why would you need a vertical extension for a genny in an RV park? Don't they have shore power? I understand that some events will impose this restriction on use of gennys in close parking but I'm not sure they really make a positive difference in every case (given all the other potential issues that they create).

I too use the Gen-Turi but found when I moved it to our (new to us) 2007 HR the exhaust pipe did not clean the roof . . . it was about one foot short. Took the end extension to Lowe's and fit it on to a rigid, light weight PVC pipe. Not the heavy white type. This one was gray. The coupling fit could not have been better. Sprayed it black to match the rest of the Gen-Turi exhaust pipes and we're off to the races!!! Good Luck.
