I am having a problem with my smart wheel SM209 on a 2000 Dyn canceling the cruse, this is a problem that I have been working on for a few months along with Dan at VIP, I have changed out the Master Controller even tho the old one checked out OK also changed out both brake switches checked all connections and cleaned, pulled the sterring wheel checked the connection and spring. The cruse will connect and work for a while and drop out for no reason, and sometime wont connect and will only connect if I cycle the ignition key. Every time I run the test everything test OK. Dan at VIP said that he has a few of us with the 2000 to 02 Monaco coaches W/ the smart wheel with this mystery cruse cancel problem, anyone that has solved to the mystery canceling problem I would appreciate guidance on the solution.

When my cruise control started kicking out it turned out to be my vaccum pump. You have a separate pump to control your dash vents and cruise control. When mine started to go bad, I could set the cruise but it would suddenly kick out for no apparent reason. I also noticed the dash vents were slow to change from one function to another.

Walt......I don't know the solution, but how about a call to Allison since the cruise is tied into the PacBrake and Allison. Maybe they've seen the problem before.

I have a 2001 Executive and have a similar problem. It seems as though mine may be a bit more complex. When adjusting the speed setting with the buttons it will either work correctly or will do one of several other things. It can cancel the cruise, honk the horn or activate the wipers! Gremlins indeed. Do you have a contact number for VIP that you care to share?

I sure do Moho 847-395-7250 and here is the tec site that will give you the procedure to test your master controller,
http://www.vipwheels.com/WEB%20PAGES/techsupport.html
but i am afraid that your controller is bad or going bad if so you can buy a new one (surplus) from North West RV supply at 866-678-7467. The cost was around $50 .
I bought a new one from NW to change my controller out and the one they sent did as you stated, blow the horn and activate the wipers, NW sent me another new one at no cost.

Walt, thank you very much. You have given me a couple hours of entertainment so far in looking for my control box. The info from VIP only says "in the passenger compartment". How hard can that be right? Well, I have to ask, where was yours? I know mine is probably not there, I'm not usually that lucky, but maybe it will point to the general direction. When I tried to call VIP they were already closed for the weekend. Thanks for the info and phone numbers. I hope I can return the favor some how.

Hi Rich the controller is in the fuse bay under the driver outside on the right side as you are looking in to the fuse box it is black and measures 5" X 5" and will have 6 multi wire plug in's and two single wire. There is a picture of the control box on the link I sent you at

I finally located my problem, I pulled the shroud around the steering column unplugged and cleaned the column plugs with contact cleaner, pushed to reseated all pins and wires plugged back up and tested on a 1200 mile trip with no problems. Thanks to all who offered ideas.
