www.monacowatts.com can answer your questions.
Van, can you provide a brief synopsis as to why you have to weld a watts link on a Dynasty?

Dennis, I'm trying to abide by what the moderators decided. I think the "demerit" was unjustified, when I'm selling nothing and only trying to help folks. But I'm trying to abide by what they said, so I'm not sure if I'm running afoul of them by answering you...we will see.

The reason welding is required on most Dynasty's is that to install a Watts linkage, you need (3) attachment points. One is for the pivot assembly itself and the other two are for where the ends of the links are secured. It does not matter whether the Watts pivot is mounted to the H-frame or to the coach body. You mount it wherever it is easiest, BUT you need to mount the Watts assembly on the end of the H-frame FARTHEST from the Panhard rod. On all Dynasty's, Exec's and Sig's I've seen, that puts the Watts assembly in FRONT of the crossmember at the front of the H-frame. On all those coaches I've done, the Watts pivot mounts on a plate welded to the two vertical tubes supporting the rear of the genny slide. The tubes alone are not sturdy enough in a side-to-side manner to withstand the forces put on the Watts pivot. But if a 1/4 x 6 plate is welded across them, they become very stiff. And though I've never done it, welding small gussets to the tops of the two vertical tubes would be a good idea.

The last issue of having SOMETIMES to slide the genny forward is a matter of having enough room for the genny's cables between the back of the genny and the Watts apparatus.

Thanks for everyone's support. I've never tried to profit from these ideas. I only wanted to help everyone have a coach that handles and tracks as well as mine.

Thanks Van, I'm going to be under my coach this afternoon so I'll take a look at the front end to see if I visualize what you're explaining.

That is exactly what I am having to do with my "Air Level Only" Windsor.

Huh??? Spanked for trying to help others with their rigs? That hardly seems right.

Dennis, if you look at my Dynasty Mods/Repairs thread I have some pretty good pics of the process involved from when I installed the Watts Link on my coach as well as the welding required. Like Van mentioned, I had to move my genset forward a few inches to gain enough room for the pivot plate and rods but it was easier than it sounds.

Mike.

Love all mods, and now I have a SUPER FANTASTIC handling coach. Thanks to Van, Nodine, Mike and Crazy Knight. Almost forgot one of the BEST was Brent who sent us the correct TRW Steering Box.
