Washer/Dryer Suggestion for older coaches

We just had a leak in our coach on our last outing. It turned out to be a failed hot water gasket on the washer/dryer. Our coach is a 2000 and I'm not sure if they were ever replaced. When I went to take out the hot water washer it crumbled into a million pieces and was a mess to get out. The cold water was in better shape but also starting to fail.

You might want to replace the gaskets before this happens to you. We happened to come back to the coach soon after it must have happened, but there was water running into the basement as the aquahot lines run into the coach right under that area. We also had water running into the kitchen. On my coach the inverter is right under the area where the aqua hot lines run into the coach so it was being drenched in water!!!!!!

Luckily we got the areas dried out and there was no long lasting damage that we could find.

When I went to the store for gaskets, they had special "hot water heater hose gaskets" that I used, not sure if that's needed or not.

Best of luck to all!

Don't guess you know this, but you should change your home and rv washing machine supply hoses every 5 years. Burst washer hoses are the leading cause of water damage to a home, likely to an rv too, and can cause tens of thousands of dollars of damage in the time you are at dinner. The hot hose is especially vulnerable because it heats and cools with the water going thru it, so it wears quicker than the cold side. NEVER install rubber hoses, they are not worthy of your time. Buy the stainless steel braided hose -- you and your home or rv are worth it. There is an adapter one can put on the end of the faucets before the hoses that stops the water flow if a leak occurs, but allows normal function. Check Sears or Lowes or Home Depot.

Thanks,

My coach had PEX running up to a 90 degree copper elbow and fitting going directly into the washer. A strange setup in my opinion, but I suppose one that avoids the need to replace the supply hoses, just need to replace the rubber washers instead!
