Water Filter hook up?

Hello,

I just took delivery of a brand new '08 Monaco Diplomat PDQ .... upgrading from an '04 Safari Simba. In the Simba, the water filter was located under the sink and only filtered what was coming out the faucet... on the Diplomat the water filter is located in a small hatch area located within one of the storage bays and from what I understand provides filtration for the entire coach. From what I can see peering into the hatch, the water filter hook up does not appear to be straight forward ... been searching for any instructions, howto's, etc on how you're suppose to do it .... if anyone can point me in the right direction or offer up some pointers - I'd greatly appreciate it!

Greg

Do yourself a favor and put in the winter bypass hose and move the filter to the other side in the water bay. Much easier to live with.

Greg, welcome to the forum. As you look into the bay where the filter is located there should be a water line with a short piece of hose connected in line. Remove that hose and connect the water line ends to the filter. Then bleed the air by turning on any faucet and you should be ready to go. Keep the short piece of hose to bypass the filter or to winterize the coach.

While we are on the subject of water filters, are there opinions about the best filters to use in the canister?

Mama, Nice picture, I don't even have picture of my own water bay. The only thing that I've added are two brackets holding the back fender on. I guess I'll have to take a picture for myself.

Thanks - just from the looks of that little hatch inside the storage bay .... I would imagine its a pain to check for leaks and change out the cartridge.

Thanks - from the stuff I've looked at ... looks like a great forum ... glad I found it. With a new coach - there's a lot to digest ... we're about to go on our initial shake down trip - wish us luck!

Awesome! From the photo - looks really straightforward and easy to maintain .... just to be clear on the other side - I do need to hook up the winter by-pass hose correct?

Don't mean to get off topic ... but I'm curious to what the device is attached to the inside of the bay door next the the shower head?

Ok ... so I'm looking at this closer and essentially it appears with the setup here that you are filtering the water as you add it to the fresh water tank ... whereas .... in the other location it is being filtered after having been added to the tank .. correct? Also - I've read where some folks have had water pressure issues relating to the water filter ... I would imagine because of the location here .... it eliminates that problem as well?

You are correct. Either the bypass hose or filter needs to be connected for the water system to work. The device next to the shower handle is a remote temperature sensor. I have one slightly different than the one pictured, but it allows you to monitor the wet bay temp during cold weather operation. You should have a heater on your coach you can turn on to keep the compartment warm. Caution, if you use that heater without the gen running or external power, the heater will eat up the batteries quickly!
