Water heater not lighting

Background: New to me 2002 40 Diplomat. Now that I fixed the water flow problem, here is another problem. The water heater does not light on propane. I did not try it on 110 yet. It absolutely could be me doing something wrong. Propane switch is on, burners on the stove work so gas is flowing, I turn on the water heater switch on the water heater, I turn on the water heater switch marked "12 volt" at the control center in the hall by the bathroom, and nothing happens. I had someone turn it on and watched the heater outside. No spark, nothing.
Am I not doing something right? Is there another switch I need to turn on?

Is your main battery disconnect switch turned on?

sometimes there is a 2nd button on the heater itself; usually accesible from the outside panel. also, not sure, but is there a fuse on this? check your manual
hope that helps

I'm having the same problem and plan on trouble shooting this week. I'll let you know what I learn.

I had a 1999 Monaco Dip. that would do the same thing, I read everything I could find and the fix was to go outside, disconnect the plug at the module, clean the connection and plug it back in. It would give me trouble after sitting for a time and not being used.
Hope it's that easy!

Forgot. This label is on my WH. Re-seat all the connectors several times.

Have you been running it on mains power for a couple of hours before trying it on propane. If so, maybe the water is already hotter than the propane thermostat setting

Update:
Found the problem. It was the thermal fuse. Replaced it and it works fine. Also took compressed air and cleaned out the burner tube. I figured it must have cobwebs or some other restriction forcing the flame to back up and burn the thermal fuse.
Thanks for all the responses.

One of the many parts I carry is an extra thermal fuse, slow blow fuses for the microwave, refrigerator thermister, relays, bulbs, blade fuses and battery solenoids. It's nice to have them available for your coach or to help someone elso on the road.
