Water Heater Question??
About 3 months ago while attending the "Rally" at Atlanta Motor Speedway we were on 30 Amp provided service. One morning Julie got up to shower and I was very quickly informed that we had no hot water. I saw that my indicator for 110 was on for the water heater, but also noticed that the DSI Fault light was on over the propane switch. I turned the 110 off and tried the propane and it fired right up. I turned it off propane and went back to 110 and all was well. I was not sure what caused the 110 to quit working or why the DSI Fault lit up.
This morning down in FL the same thing happened. I reset the 110 switch and all is working again. Does anyone have a clue as to what might be happening.
I reason that the DSI board is not in play when on 110??
It should be total electric and just heat the elements right??
Thanks for any advise or stories you may have with the same issue.
BTW I do have a progressive management system installed im my electrical bay and all my power in is good.
George

It depends on what model WH you have. Sounds like Atwood, so your circuit board still could control the 120V side of the WH.
Were you on 30A again this last time?

I am on 50 Amp now. I was not considering the board, I would assume that if it goes bad it stays bad, but I am not sure.

On page 4 in this manual under Electronic Ignition Operation item #5 discusses a lockout condition which sounds like something you're experiencing.

update:
Got it figured out?? I think! It appears I have a bad thermostat maybe and the E.O.C. is sensing high water temp and shutting the system down. That's what's causing the Fault light.
I have ordered a new E.O.C. and thermostat assembly. $14.40 with free shipping.

George,
I have had the same happen twice on 50 amps here at the house. I assumed it was the over temp shut down. Guess I need to order a new one also.

E.C.O. is the Energy Cut Off sensor. Best I can tell it is like a "resetting Snap Disk" that will sense a to hot water temp and shut the system down on Electric or Gas.
On my unit it is a little board with the ECO and thermostat in one package
Hope this clarifies

You are correct. The ECO is a thermostat, just with a higher temp setting is all.

George,
I am sure we have the same water heater. If you don't mind, what is the part number and source for the ECO?
Thanks,
Bob
