water in air filter

I have an 06 Endeavor with a 400 Cummins. Last weekend, I went away in the rain and my air filter got filled with water. We've driven in hard rain before and never had anything like that happen. Has anyone else ever had that problem? How do I prevent it in the future?

Check your drain on the intake side.

Yes it has happened (06 Diplomat) to me before. Check the drain in the inlet tube. Also, if the wet filter was fairly new let it dry out and keep it for a spare.

Where would the Water Drain be?

Thanks for your reply. Just looked for a water drain, but it doesn't seem to be in an obvious place. Is it in the tube, or in the canister? Looked in both, didn't see it.

It should be located in the lowest part of the air inlet piping. Mine looks like a rubber duck bill. Could be one was never installed.

Did you check the air intake hose everywhere including the connections? If there is a crack in the hose, water could get sucked into the filter here.

Just a thought !

Hi,
I agree with your problem. Check my thread last july 3, 2009. Nobody was interested with this kind of problem except Don and yet i know up to now this problem is still existing without some monaco rver's knowledge because or may be they never check their air filter except for replacement time but in reality that air filter casing is really getting water from the intake upper port. There is no drain hole along that rubber hose from top to bottom in monaco design. I believe most monacos are getting this type of problem but not noticed and/or ignored. For me, my RV costs me a lot of money that is why, i'm very sensitive to any kind of problem and maintenance. I drilled three holes at the bottom of the casing and it helps but still during heavy rain, water is still seeping into my filter casing by inspection and hearing a different sound of the engine as if the rpm is not stable. Poor design like trailing arms that i replaced for safety. My wish i could trade this unit someday for a better one. Tnx.
