water pump

The water pump on my '06 Diplomat is acting up.

It spits out a little water, but not near what it has in the past.
I hear the pump (ShurFlo 2088-442-444 mounted vertically) working
but it does seem as loud as during normal operation.

Tried it with both shore power and the gen set.
I open the inline filter right next to the pump and it is clean.

Do I need to prime the pump? If so how?

Thanks

That pump should never need priming. Does your coach have the faucet in the wet bay and if so, how does that one work?

The faucet in the wet bay area is reacting like the
rest of them in the coach.

Just replaced a 5600 series pump in 08 foretravel they do not make the 5.3 gpm so you get a 4 gpm now. If the kitchen is slow check the inline filter under sink. If all are slow you have option of, checking what is flow with city water if ok then it is probably pump. We took the four screws off the end and it was full of white plastic impeller parts. New pump for us. Good luck

This may sound crazy, but if the output of your pump goes thru a water filter element, thence to the pressure-tank and the rest of the coach, it's possible the filter has finally reached its limit. We had that happen on our coach, once. I spent a lot of time testing and trying to figure out what was wrong with the pump, when all it was, was a clogged sediment filter.

Also, your pump runs on your coach DC system, so a shore or gen-set energy source shouldn't be a factor.

There are lots of choices, if you opt for pump replacement. Some are either off or on, while others can deliver only what is being called for, thus cycling far less. I believe that the ShurFlo pumps are pretty good. Ours happens to be an RV Aquajet II, and it has given us great service. We use an RO system to fill our fresh tank, and use the Aquajet for virtually every gallon of water we use in the coach, and have for several years, now, living in the coach at least 4 months out of every year. I carry a spare, but may never need to use it.

If you have gotten air in the system the pump may take some time to pick up the prime. First make sure there is plenty of water in the fresh tank, then open one of the faucets and let it run for a while. If you don't get sufficient flow you may need to replace the pump. The the location of the inlet and outlet ports on the replacement ShurFlo pump are about one inch off from the ones on the existing pump. When I replaced mine I had to relocate the pump and add short extension hoses from the existing connection points.

OK, After lots of looking I learned a few things.

My lack of water had nothing to do with the ShurFlo pump.
There is a small blue box hidden behind the plumbing panel down in the 'wet bay'.

The water supply leaves my fresh tank runs thru this box (labeled Swan Industries) then to the pump. This is an electric valve that shuts off the water supply to prevent split pipes caused by freezing.
It's switch was flipped in the on position so no water was getting to my pump.

Switch on mine is in hallway next to tank display, etc.

A bit confusing for a new owner!
