Water Pump Cycles too much

Hi guys!

Sometime last year or the year before my original SureFlo pump stopped working. So I went up to see my buddy at the parts counter and he got me a smokin' deal on a replacement pump. The pump works well but it seems to need more draw than I use.

If I only have one tap open the pump cycles a lot and the 12v lights flash every time. It's quite annoying. If I run both sinks and the shower then it runs continuously and works quite well.

Can this be remedied or is it a case of the wrong pump? I was quite sure I matched the specs when I bought it.

Check the airator screens on the faucet.

I also added an accumulator. Works great.

If you already have a pressure tank and it lost its air charge it will do what you're experiencing.

I don't know what that is or what it would do to help.

The airator screens are all good. I routinely go in there and clean them out. Sounds like an accumulator is something I should look into!

I don't think I have a pressure tank. The pump sits below the water tank and then just goes into the water system.

The old pump is a SureFlow 2.5 GPM / 40 PSI
New pump is 3.3 GPM / 45 psi

Yes, the entire water system appears to have integrity.

PS>Sorry about the late reply - slide out issues ended up taking precedence!

Pre-charged to 30 psi...that is around the START set point of the pump NOT the pressure pump will put out when running.

OK, so do you think it will do the trick ?

I'm guessing you just install it in the wet bay and the pump feeds into the accumulator and the outlet goes to the internal water supply ? Ie, it gets installed in-line after the pump ?

That sounds like it's going to fix everything - much thanks for the info!

Question, when I researched the feedback on the plastic accumulators for RV's (Shurflow etc) pretty much everyone reported they made a big difference but a few people mentioned it would be better if they were larger. Apparently the rv units are about half a liter.

Any thoughts on using a 2 gallon stainless accumulator such as This one ?

In the end, is not much more money, has much more capacity, and it's not plastic. As long as my zeal isn't going to cause problems.....

The biggest hurdle is space to install it. The next is that capacity for winterizing...just things to consider.
