Water Pump Temporarily Cuts Out

Hello All,

All of a sudden our AquaJet 2 water pump suddenly shuts off while we are running a tap or the shower. it doesn't always happen immediately. It happened half way though my shower this morning. The indicator lights on the pump switches go out when it shuts down as well. We have five water pump switches throughout the coach. Then if we wait about 10 mins and try a switch the system works again.

Wire connections at the pump seem good.

The screen filter at the pump is clean.

I'm not seeing a relay, could there be one some where?

The fuse is good.

Could it be the pump?

I'm betting it's the pump. I had same issue last year then the thing wouldn't turn off and over pressurized the system. Broke 2 plastic connections and flooded the coach. Luckily we were there and caught it before any substantial damage.

Did your indicator lights go out as well?

It seems strange that if it is a mechanical issue with the pump that the lights would go out too.

It's like there is a sudden loss of 12v power.

Mine was acting similar, I found the ground wire was corroded. Cleaned the wire connection and every thing was great

Not sure but could be pressure switch is sticking and putting to much pressure on pump causing pump to overheat, then resets when motor cools down.
Just a thought.

You likely have a latching relay, usually located near the pump. Itís purpose is to read the switches (-) input and latch the switch in either off or on. Usually wired to switch the motors ground wire but a relay may be added that switches the pos wire. Google Intellitec latching relay for a diagram.

Sounds like you need to check the power going to the pump. Could be fun.
1st-Tap into the wires + and - at the pump. Hook your test light or meter to the wires and check for power when the pump is on.
2nd-Put your wife in the shower and tell her to take her time.
3rd-Go and watch the test light or meter until the pump stops.
4th-Go in and towel off your wife when the pump stops.
5th-Now it's time to figure out why the pump stopped.
Happy Glamping.

I didn't catch in your OP that your light is going off when pump was off. I honestly don't remember if my light was off when it was acting up.

Okay thank you all. I will try your suggestions.

We are now in an rv park with water hook up. I ran the pump for a bit before we hooked up and it stayed on. Im sure it will only turn off when I need it the most :(
