I have seen other posts, but I can't seem to find the fix.

I have a 2000 Monaco La Palma with a Ford v10 that we got in May. We were coming home from Cape May today and hit torrential rains. After about 10-15 minutes, the coach started to sputter and have no power. I limped into a rest stop and tried to access the situation.

After opening the motor cover inside, I saw that the air intake into the Carb was squeezing shut. I went to the front and opened to hood and found the air filter soaking wet and the compartment filled with water.

Not knowing what else to do, I removed the air intake from the carb so I could try to limp home. I only made it about 20 miles to the nearest RV dealer. I think I probably got some water in the carb.

Hopefully the dealer can fix this, but what is the Modification people have made to prevent this from happening. I have found a few older posts, but the pictures have been removed.

Thanks

Dave Huber

There is a tech bulletin on water intake getting wet. There is also a fix from ford. It changes out the intake and adds a drain at the bottom of the u bend. I can't find it now. I have posted the info before but search doesn't bring it up. I'll keep looking. Maybe somebody else has it bookmarked.
There is no carb. You may have a damaged the air flow sensor.

Found it

I got a phone call from Camping World this morning telling me to "Move my rig off there property. They can't help me". I think this is a awful way to treat a customer (as well as a president's club member and someone who has bought a trailer from them in the past.

I am going to try to drive down later (1.5 hours) and see what I can do.

Aside from putting in a new air filter and drying out the compartment, I am sure that the mass air sensor needs to be at least cleaned.

My question is, where is the mass air sensor on the ford v10 engine?

Thanks

Dave Huber

Note I had the same problem and the Ford fix was part of a recall and FREE.

I don't think it was a recall. Ford issued the TSB and for a short time after that they installed the fix for free. Some time later they no longer did the free fix. To do it you had to order and pay for the parts and do it yourself. Pics are in above link.
don't know about the flow sensor location

The actual TSB is hard to find now. It is in the body of this page.

Just an update.

I spoke the the General Manager of Camping World. He apologized profusely for the way I was treated on the phone. He told me not to worry about leaving my MH there and said it was not in the way where it was parked and was going to have a talk with the woman who called and was so rude to me on the phone. When I told him I was trying to get down there last night, he had the MH moved to a spot that was outside the locked part of the lot so I would be able to get to it if I get there after they closed.

I put in a new air filter and made sure everything was dried out, but It was still not running right. I then removed the Mass Air Flow sensor and it started running fine. I got the rig home and in the driveway.

Tonight's project: clean the MAF sensor and see it it works, otherwise I will have to get a new one. It looks like they are about $60-$70. Not awful.

At least I got it home.

Thanks for everyone's advise and posts for what to look for. I would not have gotten it home with out them.

I took the MAF sensor out and cleaned it. After reinstalling it, I still have no power.

I ordered a new sensor from Rockauto.com. It cost about $70 with shipping.
