We bought a 40' Monaco Diplomat 2000 with a 315 hp Cummins engine. We have completely gone through the unit making upgrades for the past year and a half. We have not taken it on a long trip as yet as we just retired this past month. This summer the full time adventure begins. We plan on hitting the ground running. I have no idea what the fuel consumption is for this unit. Can anyone help me? Our plan is leave Washington State and winter on the gulf coast of Texas. I don't plan on any high passes, going down through ID, UT MN, TX.

We are not new to full timing it as we traded off our 35' Coachman 5th wheel which we owned for the past 14 years and lived in for 7. We figure we will have a monthly budget for fuel, when it's expended we will park for a while. May take us a little longer to get where we are going, but we are explorers and there is a lot to see out there.

Thanks in advance for your help

Congrats on your new unit....Fuel mileage is one of those thing everyone ( not me) lies about..Our MH gets 8 to 9 w/toad. For a budget I would budget for the low end and bank the bucks if you are wrong...Peace.....D

It's all about horsepower, vehicle weight, and vehicle speed.

You're probably going to realize between 7.5 and 8.5 mpg.

Wayne,

Our 2001 38' Diplomat ISC 330 HP, with toad gets close to 8 MPG. It's hard to be precise because it's hard to be consistent in determining when the tank is full. Also, we run the generator occasionally and that takes a little bit of fuel.

All that said, it would be surprising if you got more or less than has been mentioned so far.

FWIW
