I found this in the cargo bay of the 97 HR Imperial I purchased last year and assumed it had something to do with the slide out but nothing fits. It is greasy so must have been used outside in a greasy environment.Click image for larger version

Looks like an older style slide out lock protection bar designed to keep the slideout from moving out in case of hydraulic failure.

I think it may attach inside. When you close your slideout, you place the bar (with the red knob facing you) against the wall of the coach and use the red knob to adjust the depth of the bar just inside the slideout trim closest to you. I think the bar acts as a jamb to keep the slideout from moving out during your travels. I guess it could work outside but I would not think that would be a good idea in case it vibrated loose and fell to the pavement. I had a similar looking bar in my 1996 HR. fifth wheel and it worked inside the fifth wheel between the wall and the slide face.

I had two of these in my last motorhome, a 37 foot HR Endeavor. They go between the slide and the side of the coach when the slide is in. That coach had a electric motor which moved the slide in and out. While I usually put them in place when travelling, I never got any indication that the slide was trying to move out.

I think that these were something which was suggested by the Monaco lawyers to minimize their liability if the slide ever moved out while moving.

Thanks for the inputs. I did what i should have done first --- check the manual. It says the slide-out is disabled when the engine is running. Maybe the lawyers were worried about the disconnect failing.
