What is switch in engine compartment of 2003 Monaco Windsor

I have two rocker switches inside the engine compartment of my 2003 Monaco Windsor. One is label front rear or off and the other next to it is labeled start (pushed it but nothing starts). Any idea what these are for?

The switches enable you to start the engine from the engine compartment. The key needs to be on and the other switch needs to be in the "rear" position.

Turn your ignition key on at drivers seat. Then walk back to rear engine and turn front/rear switch to rear. Now you can start engine with 'start' switch.

X3, allows you to start engine from rear.

I accidently hit the switch while working on the engine and when I tried to start from the front nothing happen, scratched my head and started checking and then remember the switch. Went back and checked and it was switched to rear. Just for your information since it does happen.
