In the rear most compartment on the curb side where the inverter is located our coach has the Magnum AGS Auto Gen Start module. To the far right at the bottom of the module is a 4-wire phone jack that has a cable that connects the temperature sensor that is used to monitor the temp inside the coach. One of the AGS features is to start the gen set when the coach temp reaches the set point dialed in on this module. I can't find the other end of this cable and the associated temperature sensor. Has someone been able to locate it?

Thanks,

Bob

I would think it would be inside that small white control box that is mounted on the wall inside. My box is located above my forward thermostat. I have never looked for it. I will see what I can find out.

Bob,
I have a 2007 PDQ and I believe what you are looking for is contained in the same housing as the remote A/C sensor for the rear bedroom. On my unit the sensor is passenger side, back corner. You can pull the cover of the housing or feel the back of the cover in the closet for 2 seperate leads. The A/C is a white cable and the AGS is black.

Dennis,

I will check that out. I know where the sensor for the rear AC is located as I have removed the cover and used a cork to extend the sensor into the room air space. I may have overlooked the second sensor.

According to the literature, the Magnum AGS can be wired in three ways, triggered either via the regular a/c thermostat or a separate temp sensor, or a via a wall switch with its own sensor. Are you sure you have the separate temp sensor? It may bewired such that it is driven from your house A/c thermostat.

See the installation instructions here:

I had a 2006 Endeavor and always thought the temp for auto gen was controlled by my front thermostat. Why? Think I was told that either by dealer or Monoco. I did used this feature a few times when I owned the coach.

My AGS temp sensor is located in the main thermostat by the EMS display and slide control switches.

I looked there and only have the one RJ-11 cable plugged into the thermostat. I read all the AGS info last week and if it is connected into the AC thermostat it must be done in one of the AC units. I also looked in the wall cavity behind the Control Panel this weekend but only found the cable going to the DuoTherm and the one going to the Magnum Remote.

I looked at the AGS wiring diagrams and there is no separate temp sensor. The Rj-11 phone cable is u
sed to connect the remote AGS box to the main AGS box. I haven't figured out yet how it turns on at a set temp because my DW dragged me off. Stay tuned.

It works but the temp is not very accurate.

There two RJ-11 phone cables that plug into the bottom of the AGS. One is the Magnum network that goes to the inverter and the remote control panel located inside the coach. The other is a remote temp sensor that should be located by the coach manufacturer inside the coach.

Read my next post.

Ed S gets the prize. Last winter I found that the front and rear temp sensors for the AC/Heat Pumps were located inside the wall cavity and did not work well. See this post:
Are you having trouble with temp control in your coach?
I fished the temp sensors out of the wall and supported them in the room air space behind the little grill using a cork. When I did that in the bedroom I failed to realize that what looked like a wire going down was a second temp sensor. I went out and pulled that grill back off and the cork out. There inside the wall was the AGS temp sensor wire going down toward the floor. I was able to fish it out and support it with the AC sensor in the room air space.

I am very excited about getting my AGS and Remote control panel back from Magnum. They are upgrading the software so I will have full network control and can set the AGS parameters from the remote. A big plus is that the AGS will be able to sense when the inverter is receiving shore power and will not start the generator even if the temp gets above the set point. On two different occasions we have left the campground with the AGS enabled only to come back and find the generator running even with shore power. I did not like that and I am sure my fellow campers did not. We would like to leave the AGS enabled when we leave the dogs behind in the coach just in case the shore power fails and the weather is hot. Another reason for wanting to leave the AGS enabled all the time is that we are converting to a residential frig that will run off the inverter when shore power is not available. If the batteries get low the AGS will start the gen set automatically.

Thanks for all the help and replies,

Bob

Bob I am getting confused on which Auto Start system you are talking about. There are two totally separate systems in the MH. One is the Auto Temp Start (ATS) and the Auto Gen Start (AGS) will start the generator if you set the temperature on the control module to what you want it to start at and set your thermostats at the same temps
The ATS is self contained and has its own temp sensor in the ATS remote control unit and is not wired into any of the AC thermostats. Once the preset temp is reached it starts the generator which will run for a preset two hours then will shut down. The Auto Gen Start is tied into the Magnum inverter and starts the generator if the batteries get below a programed charge level or the shore power drops below a preset level. With the AGS turned on it is always possible to have the generator start if that shore power drops. Which systematic are you've talking about?
