File a complaint with NHTSA at WWW.safercar.gov
Maybe with aenough complaints the gov will get involved since this is a large safty issue on a large vehicle.
They may be able to back to mmonaco or their insurance / bonding company and get somthing done about this.
This looks like 2800 vehicles at 4000.00 each 11 to 12 million deal.
Lets all file a complaint. This is a big deal.
I have also been working with Family Motor home asso to try and get them to assist us. Why should you have to pay to get a saftey issue repaired and why should the old Monaco get to walk with no responsibility.
By the way the New monaco are the same people running the show. Do you really want to continue to do business with the same people who may take a walk on you when you need them the most. Navistar took them over because they owed them big time but guess for what?
Parts. Maybe the part that is failing! Where is Navistar in this issue. They are all claiming no responsibility. Do you really want to do business with companies that opt out on you instead of standing up to the plate and repairing their mistakes. Hello Toyota, is anyone home. Again ask yourself this question.
Will the new Monico bail on me when I need them?
Will navistar or the next take over company cop out and claim no responsibility.

I am the biggest advocate against what Monaco and Navistar did. I think it shows a lack of character and integrity. However, many people believe that business is business and have either not been affected or have moved on.

I think any attempt to get Monaco or Navistar to accept responsibility is long gone. More than likely, Monaco's prior insurance carrier is off the hook as well, due to the Chapter 11/7. These issues have long been discussed on this forum with many different responses. I for one, would never give Monaco any of my money in the future due to my specific principles. I doubt that most who have suffered a loss would either. The best way to reward Monaco and Navistar for their character and integrity is not to reward them in the future. What goes around, comes around!

I'm lost.....what are you talking about? Do you have a specific complaint. The economy killed a bunch of companies.

We are new owners of a 2006 Beaver Monterey and were wondering if we need to be concerned about this "trailing arm" issue. Thank you, Roger and Deb

The weak trailing arms were only installed on 4 air bag chassis. If you have a chassis with 8 or 10 air bags you are not affected by the trailing arm issue. If you are not sure poke your head inside one of your front wheel wells. If you see an air bag in front of the wheel and one to the rear of the wheel then you do not have a 4 air bag chassis.

resindiana,

Your original post on this thread is, frankly, not understandable. I am not trying to insult you but I suggest you carefully proof read your posts before sending them and I also suggest you put your brand and model of coach in your signature so we know something about your current RVing experience. We can help better if we know what type rig you have and clearly understand what you are talking about/asking.

Sorry to be so blunt but there have been endless rants on this forum about Monaco, old and new, Navistar, etc. and their behavior. I do not believe more ranting is helpful at this point. Some opt out and do not support new Monaco/Navistar, we have opted in and have a new coach from Monaco and are pleased with the product. Caveat Emptor has been part of US law since 1817 and is still a good rule to follow - be aware, be careful and then live with your decisions.

Once again, sorry to be so blunt and my purpose is not to irritate you, I am sure I have however. On serious matters such as this I think we need accurate, unemotional dialogue to solve those problems that are solvable. Thanks for listening.

Oh by the way, I am proactively trying to find out more detail about the faulty Kongsberg brake pedal assembly and how to inspect the system until it is fixed. I will post the facts that I discover and how I deal with them when available.

Lew

I understand some of the bitter feelings but here is something to consider.

1. The Old Monaco is dead. The remaining assets will be sold off and the creditors, vendors, dealers and customers that filed a claim with the court will get the the few pennies that are left but the Judge will deceide who gets what and how much- no one else but the Judge.

2. Why be mad at Navistar? It is a free market and they did not have to buy the Monaco assets and brands and by the way they were the only bidder. They won the bid for $50 million and did this when the future of the RV business was at a very dark hour a very gutsy move. Why should the rules change after the deal? The Judge and the two banks accepted the bid. The last Old Monaco balance sheet I saw had about $30 million in warranty liabilities. If that is true that would up the price tag to $80 million not to mention this would be considered wreckless from a stock holders point of view. If Navistar would have had to take over the warranty liabilities, plus put up money to re-start the new company (not to mention the day to day overhead) then they simpily would not have walked away. Also if Navistar made a lower bid to off set the liabilities then the banks would not go for it and would have forced the Old Monaco into a chapter 7 liquidation. Guess what? Then not only would SOME Monaco owners not have warranty but ALL Monaco owners would have a product that was a true orphan with a much lower resale if any at all- and no Service, Parts or Dealer Support. I am thankful they had the guts and vision to buy Monaco and will support them for this.

3. The Rv Business has others who have bought RV brands with very little outrage. How about in 1996 Forrest River bought the brands of Cobra and the same guy who ran Cobra into the ground now runs Forrest River. Bob Lee bought the Country Coach brand and some assets- Don't think you will get any warranty from him. Heartland just bought the the Fleetwood TOWABLE brands- There are many dealers with old Fleetwood Towables on their lot and guess what no warranty. Jayco bought the assets of Travel Supreme and hired many of thier managers- same deal bought assets only.

4. As far as anger toward the old management team. I understand that -but they now have to answer to a guy named Jack Allen from Navistar for almost any decession. For those of you who want blood think about this. Kay Toolson has 1.8 million shares of old Monaco stock. Just a few years ago was trading for over $15.00 per share. Now it is worthless Kay was not able to get out and rode the ship down. Do the math-Yikes.Not to mention that as the founder he had to see his company go down the drain and I am sure he has made a few enemies. Sounds like it is not a whole lot of fun for him either.

I suppose your view on this is based on your own experience I do think that most Monaco owners are happy with their product in fact most Monaco owners are not even aware or care that Moanco went bankrupt. All they really care about is whether or not they are having a good time with their RV and can get it fixed if they need it fixed and it has some value when they go to sell or trade it.
