Question Where's the Inverter?

I just purchased a 2007 Holiday Rambler Admiral 33sfs. The build sheet says it came with a 600 watt inverter. It came as a Standard Run Savings Package ($6877). I have been able to find all the items on included in this package, but I can not find the inverter. I have looked in all the service bays. The main breaker box has a breaker for the inverter. How can I find out if it actually has one??????

It should be within a very few feet of the house batteries and should have #8 or heavier gauge positive and neutral cables between batteries and inverter unit. I'm not familiar with your particular rig but you may also have a remote panel inside the rig that will at least let you know if you really have an inverter.
You mentioned that you have a breaker labeled "inverter" in "The main breaker box". That seems unusual as the inverter is not supplied with AC current UNLESS it is a combination inverter-charger. The breaker for current supplied by the inverter should be on the inverter itself.

For clarification, the "breaker" and "breaker box" is 110 volts and it is clearly marked with "Inverter".

You stated that my inverter cound be an inverter/charger. In the electrical bay, there is a Inteli-Power 9200 Series Recreational Vehicle Converter/Charger. It says nothing about being an inverter, so I do not believe this to be an inverter.

The build-sheeet states a "60 Amp Electronic 12V Power Converter" is included as Standard Equipment. At the bottom of the build sheet, under Optional Equipment", it lists the "600 watt inverter" as part of the Standard Run Savings Package.

I have not seen any remote panels, swithes, or devises that indicate its association with an inverter.

This is driving me bonkers. Please help before I require heavy medication and an indefinite stay at a hotel with padded walls.

Try disconnecting from shore power, and running your microwave then listen for the fan on the inverter. Monaco put mine on the ceiling of a storage bay.

First off, I know nothing specific about your rig. I can tell you the Inteli-Power 9200 Series is definitely a converter/charger and is NOT an inverter. It is also a very good one, perfect for your batteries!

Since you have that, you do NOT have an inverter/charger. So, if you DO have a regular inverter, it is not powered by 120v. 600 watt is not a very large inverter and would only be adequate for say a TV, VCR/DVD and a stereo system. It's possible they located it very close to the front TV, so look there. However, as someone else stated, regular inverters are usually installed VERY close to the coach batteries, (unless they are small?).

My other thought is, a previous owner removed the inverter. I know the PD 9200 series converter/chargers are fairly new. I also believe they did not or would not have used those as standard equipment in 2007. That said, I really suspect a previous owner upgraded the charger and removed the inverter. To clear up some fog, I would test the 120v outlet the 9200 is using. Flip the 120v "Inverter" breaker. If the power goes off at the outlet, that can answer that question.

I do know some manufacturers have installed the inverters in the power bay where the shore power is, so a good check there is in order also. I hope this can help, certainly keep us posted!

PS: I just went through a 3 day problem that took out our entire HVAC system. I happen to have some heavy medication left over if you need it.

Monaco put the 600 watt inverter on our old 06 Monarch in the front over head cabinet on the curb side next to the TV. You should be able to hear it Hmm when the microwave is on and the coach is not plugged in. If it is switched on.

I want to thank all of you who privided me with the above information.

I took another very very close look at the bays. I noticed a heavy duty wire going to nowhere. I didn't notice it before, because it was wrapped up on other wires. Apon closer inspection I discovered that the end of the wire was configured the same as the block-end of a battery cable (flat with a bolt hole). I looked around some more and found a second cable with the same configuration. In the same bay was a large black box (plastic cover). I took it off and there were two electical boxes (one of them was marked "TV").

So here I am with a positive and negative cable going to the batteries and a junction box marked TV with 110 volt wire in it. I could not see any marks that would indicate that an inverter was removed. But at this point it just don'e matter.

Bottom Line: I do not have an inverter, but it is prewired to supply the two TVs.

Thanks Again

At least you now know where to install an inverter when you are ready for one.
Good detective work.
