Which end comes off?

ISL 425 Dynasty. Want to change filter but not sure which end to remove? Anybody know? If so how best to get off, as both end caps are on tightly?

Okay. Thanks.

I went to NAPA asked if they carried my filter. They sold me the filter without the black container, so naturally I thought it opened up.

Live and learn.

I too assumed the cartridge came out. Mine did not. I bought one at a Cummins dealer and wondered why the box was so heavy carrying it out the RV. I was very surprised that it was the whole canister, steel and all. -Bill

In hind sight I should have kept the old one to disassemble it to see how it was made. Maybe there is a way to retro fit a cartridge type...

Just replaced mine, I also thought the core was removable, I think I paid about $150.00 online, no sales tax or shipping. I would think twice about cutting up and trying to replace core, do not want to suck anything into motor or turbo, that could turn into a real disaster over a few dollars more.

FYI, these Ecolite Filters are All made by Farr regardless of what brand name they are.
The recommended service life of these filters is 3 years, Maximum.
Beyond that there is a chance of the paper material dislodging and making its way into the engine which would not be a good thing.
When buying a new filter you would also be wise to confirm the date of manufacture so your not getting a bargain price on an old filter.
Also, when replacing this filter, it is critical to make sure the filter exterior and connecting hoses are clean before removal of the clamps to minimize the risk of any debris entering the air intake system and causing an engine failure.
Here is a crossover list for the various sizes of the Ecolite filters.

Wow, so timely, Dennis45! Was just starting to look into what to get yesterday. Many thanks.

And I appreciate learning that they aren't repairable... I bet I looked like a monkey trying to open a coconut this morning while trying to figure out how that case comes apart .

I would stick with Donaldson and not trust any knock off.

There are no Knockoffs. These are ALL made by Farr Ecolite no matter if it says Donaldson, Fram, Wix or Fleetgard.

I can relate. I once tried to open a coconut with a table knife that I smuggled on board a cruise ship. After a few blisters, it went overboard.
