When we drive into rain we get a leak between the glass and the rubber seal - note that it is NOT between the seal and the body.

Anyone else have this and any suggestions? Tired of having a towel down in front of the windshield to catch the drips running down the glass.

I was afraid that would be the answer. Local windshield place looked at it and wouldn't guarantee they wouldn't break it taking it out.

I have the same problem. We had a new shield installed 2 yrs ago and the thing has leaked thru two seal ups since. it still leaks. We can't get back to the place that did the job because they are in Cali and we are in Mo for now. The guys that did it the last time were not prepared for a one piece shield and didn't have a ladder etc. they stood in the bed of their PU and did it. If I ever get back to Oregon I'll take it where it was installed originally and get them to do it.

I think I'll just keep a towel handy when driving in rain. Up here the live expectancy of a shield is not great. They use gravel to sand the roads and it is hell on the glass.

A couple of years ago I caulked my windshield to the rubber gasket. I tried caulking it with black silicone, but that didn't last very long. So I went to an auto parts store and picked up a tube of Loctite 'The Right Stuff'. It was easy to work with, and to date it has remained tightly bonded to both the glass and the rubber gasket.

I used masking tape to set up the caulking edge on both the glass and the rubber gasket, ran my saliva moistened finger over the caulk to smooth it out, and pulled the tape off. It looks very professional.

Bottom line, no more leaks.
