Windshield seal

2002 Windsor.
The windshield seal appears to have an extra piece of rubber
that acts as a rain gutter. The seal is tight but the "gutter"
is cracking. Is this an optional seal?? Can I just cut the
extra piece off?
It runs along the top of the windshield and down both sides
approx. 12 inches.

It's called an eyebrow seal and is designed to keep the water from running down the windshield in heavy rain and does a good job of keeping the main window seal from leaking.

You can still buy it from Monaco. It's about $6.00 a foot and has it's own tape attached.

I had a 1999 Monaco Dip that needed to be recaulked where the 2 gaskets meet at the top of the windshield, it was January in rainy Washington State and I was heading to Arizona, soooo I got some 2" electical tape and found acouple of hours of clear weather and ran 2 lines of tape across the top of the windshield covering the eyebrow completly, it worked fine for 3 months and fixed after I got home. I didn't have to replace the eyebrow but they need attention from time to time.
Good luck,
John G.

I have a 98 Signature and have not had any problems with my windshield. I did however have creaking noise when we would travel rough roads. We decided to change the old tv for a new LED model. The weight difference is significant. The creaking noise has gone away. I believe with the weight of the old tv there was flexing in the material around the windshield and in time would cause the windshield to leak or even come out of its seal.
