beaverjim.......I used to work at a tire store in my younger days. The owner, who was a crook, always had some reason why a tire wasn't covered under warranty. If he did cover one, he would prorate (sp) it off of full list price and then sell them a new tire for more than if the customer just came in and bought the tire. Once the customer left, he would send the tire out for warranty coverage.
Over the couple years I worked for him, (in high school and didn't know better) I learned to never trust any automotive shop. With all that said, I now ask for a warranty opinion from the regional tire representative, in your case, the Michellin rep.
A few years ago I had a 19" Goodyear on my Fleetwood Terra that developed a tread separation at 8000 miles. I took it to the Goodyear dealer and was told that the tire was out of balance and my alignment was out. After I told them the motor home only had 8000 miles they were scrambling for another line of crap to try. I demanded that the regional Goodyear rep give me a call with his decision. I got a call a few days later. They told me my new (no charge) tire was ready.
This may not apply in your case, but may be worth a try.
