12 volt outlet
Again yesterday I tried to use the 12volt outlet and remembered why I hate them . Why do they use the small, useless things in the Winslow ( and probably other trailers) ?
I can not get a fan, GPS, light or any other 12 volt item that I have plugged in because the outlet is too small

I have a 12 volt adapter on my Garmin but nothing 12 volt I have will fit.
They all fit the cigarette outlet in the truck and any other 12 volt outlet.
I ruined 1 plug by getting it stuck in the trailer outlet and could not get it out without ruining it.

If the outlet is too small, it would cost less than $10 to buy a replacement at any auto parts or big box store and change it out.

My question is why put the stupid things in the trailer in the first place if nothing will fit them???

He said GARMON, not GARMEN, it was not a typo, though I do understand how you can feel it was.
Me, I can "Shrink" a plug if I need to, but that is me, I can also accidently destroy a plug shrinking it.

When doing a Google search for Garmon, nothing comes up.
What's up???
How about a link to the adapter you are referring to? That is always more helpful.

Google 'Garmon adapter' and lots show up. But why buy an adapter when a new 12 v socket would make it universally fit your 12 v plugs. Amazon has them for $4.99 on up. Amazon.com: cigarette lighter socket: Automotive
Ebay also shows over 1900 hits for 'cigarette lighter socket'

Tom, Ex-SKIA, what Red is talking about is the 12 volt female plug that most of us have that is a part of the TV antenna will not accept the male end of 12 volt appliance or is hard to plug in. You most likely never use yours since you stay in places that have hookups. My 2003 Excel was also hard to plug any thing into also. I have tried on my Wild Cargo. Hope this helps you understand what Red is talking about.
For some reason the company that builds them makes them smaller then what we use.
I wonder if the are built to Metric standards and that is the problem.

Thank you Still
I do know I can replace them, get an adapter, shrink the plugs, etc. but my point was, why do I have to do that on a trailer that has them and are supposed to be usable? I also think they may be metric and foreign made

When I google Garmon adapter it corrects my speling to Garmin and that's not the adapter I want.
There are a couple of different standards for 12 volt outlets, the problem is yours is built to the wrong standard. Check out these links, I DO NOT KNOW if they will work for you but this gives you an idea for searching.
12 volt 15 amp European Male Plug to Cigarette Lighter Adapter 15-1666 | eBay
TwistedThrottle.com
This is close to what I'm thinking of but.. alas, not exactly what I thought it would be called.. I had something around here that came with a "Different" 12 volt plug, did not like my american 12 volt sockets much.. I forget what it was however. (Liked to fall out as it was a shade too small) it looked somethign like the photo in the 2nd link.
