Our coach is new even though it is a 2005. this is the 7th day it has ever been plugged in to AC power and the 3 day we have lived in it.
We tried to make ice last night and it was all water this morning. I had the fridge set on LP and set to number 9 and changed it this morning to AC and here at 4:30 we barely have 2 trays out of eight...4 trays on each side. I do not have a thermometer on this camping trip. Temp must be 32F because we do have one tray on each side with a few cubes and ice crust in the rest.

Remember, we are new Excel owners but had SOB for 2 years before...are we missing an adjustment?

Virgil, most of the problems with the four door Norcold have been with the box temps not going below 40*. The refer should have some fans operating at the top of the refer to cool down the coils in rear of refer. Do you have frost on the back wall of freezer, the amount of days you have had it on you should by now. I have a Norcold 4 door and my fans will cycle on and off when its warm outside or if the sidewall has direct sun on it. The fans are controlled by a thermal switch to operate the fans.

Ours was running when we took delivery of it and it has never been off since (over 2 years). I have noticed that turning the thermostat up beyond 5 is counterproductive. With the refer set to 5 the freezer always hovers around "0" and the refrigerator part stays around 33 to 34. If the outside temperature gets to 100 or over the refer temps will go up a little. That's when I turn on the extra fan that I installed behind the air inlet outside. It helps a little. I wish I could tell you how long it takes the unit to cool down and start working properly if it has been turned off for a long time, but I don't have any idea. We ordered ours with the icemaker and it does really make the ice. All and all, it works as well as the one in the stick house.

We also have the Norcold 4 door in our 2007 and have a gauge in that I move between the freezer compartents and both of them hold right at 0* and around 37 in the fridge part. This is with our unt set at 5 and on A/C. We had ice cream in ours and it was frozen so solid that the DW could hardly get it out of the container. I'm very happy with ours.

I had the same problem with the same refrigerator in a Class A motorhome. The freezer worked great, but no ice cubes and not even water to the icemaker. Since we only drink bottled water we didn't bother fixing the icemaker. If we want icecubes (rarely) we bought them.

Well, it was another case of "newbie-itis". It took two days for the box to cool down and then we began making ice like crazy. What a great learning experience.

No icemaker water - make sure that the water inlet valve is turned on. The valve is normally located in the outside compartment (small lever in the copper line.
