I've worn out my little craftsman tankless. I'm looking for something small enough to carry along but powerful enough so that I don't have to standby for 15-20 minutes to get 4 lbs in each tire. Overkill and the Excel need 110#s. What do you use?

Would this work http://www.tylertool.com/dewalt224.html

Many of us have had that question.

If you search on "air compressor", you will find quite a bit of discussion on the topic.

Hey Virg,
I use this guy Craftsman Air Compressor and just adjusted the upper limits switch to about 130 lbs.(blows off at 150lbs.) Fits nice in my bay slide out and plugs in right next to the bay door. Been working for 2 years with no problems. Goes on sale as it is today very often. ($99.00)

I keep a 12V 350psi compressor in the Tug for emergencies only. They don't run long before these little cheapies burn out. Short time use only. HTHs rockin

Virg,
Use "Overkill" for your air source -- install a air-hose connector on your trailer brake supply line and attach your air-hose. Fire up "Overkill" and set her on high idle and go for it. I run 110 psi in TV and Excel tires also and "Semi-Suite" provides plenty of air pressure.

Tom,
Thank you. I think that is the one I want. I'm gonna assume that you'll tell me how to juice it up a little, if so, I'll order one tonight.
John,
I've used Overkill's compressor, but it is slower than I would like and I don't always have O close to the Excel or the boat trailer, etc.

When we had our PacBrake installed, it came with an under-the-hood air compressor. We bought an extra length of air hose so that we can reach the tires on the Excel when hooked up. Works like a charm!

I have the 2 gallon version of this compressor. Same engine, same PSI rating. Typically I can only get 100 PSI out of it, even after spending 10 minutes back and forth letting the motor catch up. The gauge reads 125 so it cuts out then. But my two other gauges disagree.

Tom - if you have any suggestion, please send 'em my way too. Thanks!

We carry a Porter Cable 150 PSI pancake style compressor. We've had it 3 years and it works great. It pressures up the 110# tires in no time. It fits well in the sliding tray.

My Craftmen compressor shut off at 105 PSI when I got it new. It said 125 PSI on the tank. I did the high and low adjustments I outlined in a thread in June '07. Check it out. HTHs. rockin'

Rockin,
My new Sears 3 gallon compressor arrived today. I got the oil in it cause you told me to but you forgot to tell me about installing the air cleaner!!!!!!!! I darn near wore the compressor out and almost melted that little plastic plug in the air cleaner hole. Did you know that it takes forever to fill the tank unless you pull that plug out and screw in the air cleaner? I know you withheld that information on purpose you rascal.

Anyway, I got it pumping, took the cover off the on-off switch and cranked her up to 140. Looking good now. Thanks again!
THE BOYS ARE BACK IN TOWN!!!
