We will be ordering our 2011 W41GKE in addition to our 2011 Ram 3500, Megacab, DRW, High Output, Max Tow package soon. I've been researching air hitches and could use some advice. I want an air hitch that is at least 25K. I really like the TS3 but it's rated for only 20K with 4,500 pin weight. The new WC 41GKE is rated for 21K, so don't think it's wise to go with the TS3. TS also makes the TSLB2H which is rated for 32K with 5K pin weight, but the website says it's for MDTs, so not sure if it will work for my new Ram. Another option I found is the AirSafe Omni 25 rated for 5K-25K with 5,500 pin weight. Don't know much about AirSafe though. Any thoughts or recommendations?

Thanks!
T

I think the hitch is the least of your worries. It sounds like you need a bigger truck. The last person on this forum who bought the 41' Wild Cargo is pulling his with a MDT. Any truck can pull the weight on level ground, but can it stop it on a downward slope?

The new 2011 Ram 3500 DRW HO Max Tow (with engine brake as standard eqpt) is rated at 30K GCW with towing capacity of 22,700lbs and of course designed to stop that weight too. The W41GKE is supposed to weigh empty around 17,000lbs (if I remember correctly what Bryan told me) and has a GVWR of 21,000lbs. I'm sure RickS can chime in on what his weighs empty, but mine won't have nearly the number of options his has, so it will be lighter. While I would love a MDT or HDT, that's not an option since the Ram will be my daily driver. In short, I will not be overloaded with the new Ram 3500 DRW HO. A MDT would pull/stop it better and a HDT would be even better, but I will be w/in weight ratings with the Ram so I'm not too worried...so no need to avoid me on the road, I will be safe and legal! Again, thank for the suggestion though...if I could, I certainly would go with a MDT! Any suggestions on air hitches?

We have the TSLB2H MDT hitch and like it very much. It bolts directly to a flat surface (no rails), so I don't know if it would work in a pickup bed. Maybe the folks at TS can help? I'm not familiar with the AirSafe hitch. Here is another option. Don't know anything about them, but the specs are a little closer to what you want. http://mountainmaster.net/hitches/airhitchcom.html

We have an Airsafe 20k hitch and I highly recommend them. After breaking the 5th wheel frame on a trailer I will never tow without an air ride hitch again.

Airsafe was great to deal with and the product is very well made.

Hi, I am using the trailer saver and Ride glide on the W41GKE. Great combo on the MDT to not kick the heck out of the coach.
