The original Shurflo Extreme Sensor 5.7 was installed in a nearly inaccessible location requiring tortuous body contortions to make the frequent adjustments that it required. Finally, after monkeying with it, and its jack hammering, for 4 years, I could no longer coax it to cease cycliing. At the same time it began making very high pitched sounds at the frequency of the pumps cycle rate. It was kaput and Shurflo no longer sells repair kits for the original version of the Extreme5.7. So with a clear conscious that II had done my utmost but could not repair the pump anymore, I bought an Aquajet RV Variable Speed Pump, 5.3 gpm from Rick at the rvWaterFilterstore.com.

To re-locate the Aquajet inRV a more accessible spot, I extended the original inlet and outlet water lines. I put a very large loop in the oulet side to absorb vibration. I mounted the pump on a 2x6very wood block which, in turn, I mounted on a closes cell foam pad.
In the process I noticed that the winterizing by_pass valve was slightly defective. While it rarely leaked a few drops of water, it allowed a regular trickle of air bubbles into the system. These aair bubbles were a significant source of vibration for the Shurflo and also for the Aquajet. Therefore, to be fair, I cannot totally blame the jack hammering on the Shurflo.
I replaced the valve and "T" fitting with a more substantial ball valve. I extended the line so that it reaches the ground. Now I can fill a 5 gallon bucket with winter rv antifreeze and pump it from the bucket in one shot, instead of going gallon by gallon.
In addition I noticed that even the slightest vibration was transmitted through the platic pex lines that, in turn, vibrated/slapped against the rear of the shower enclosure and greatlyy amplified the vibration. Foam pipe insulation was installed around those pipes throught the rea access to the shower fixtures.
Now, for the first time in thethe 4 years since I've had my Excel, I can honestly say that my water pump is virtually silent. I can only hear it at maximum output when three fixtures are fully open. And then it is a satisfying hum, no vibration and no hammering. And, even with multiple faucets open, the Aquajet senses the demand and delivers a steong flow to all.
