Every time I was underneath one of my "open" basement doors, I would duck way down (I'm not real tall or anything, just average at 5'9"). Jan asked why I was ducking so low. It's because I didn't want to accidentally gouge my head on the protruding square pins that extended so far out from the back end of the door latches. She asked me why don't I just cut off the excess? Great idea! My Dremel with a reinforced cutoff wheel did the job.

Not a bad idea Glenn. I would have done this but.....being a FTer, my good Dremel got sold with most of my other shop tools (about $45,000 worth) when we did our estate auction.....and have a super cheapy Harbor Freight unit that won't cut the mustard. I simply put a piece of 3/8" black rubber fuel line on each shaft. That way when I bang my head on it....it's a "cushioned" blow!!! I think I put my post about that in the Best Practices sticky. rockin'

I have no problem with my Winni----- they must have been trimmed at the factory. Maybe a "attention to detail" thing!

I gotta re-read the Best Practices sticky! I'm sure there are LOTS more things I can do that I don't know about yet!

My DH did hit his head on these so he took a hacksaw and took them off then flat filed them. A better idea than hitting them all the time.
