Good morning from Chicago---it was MINUS 6 deg @ 7:45 when Larry attempted to take the Hooligans out!!!!! I don't want to know what the wind chill is. We've decided our last winter in stix & brix is going to be a real doozy. So for anyone who USED to live in the northern IL-southern Wi area, yep-you made the right decision!

Is there anyone who knows the dimensions of your basement? Or would be willing to go measure? I'm not asking that of anyone where it's less than 60 deg...LOL. We are most likely going to be in a 30 ft unit-does the height vary much from unit to unit?. I want to be ready for the after Christmas sales to snatch up plastic storage containers (Rubbermaid, Sterilite, etc.)that will organize & stack down there, but I'm wondering how many I can stack on top of each other. Any hints in this area are MUCH appreciated.

So far I have the Christmas paraphanelia (sp?) that will be coming with us to a manageable amount that will fit in ONE zerox box. Mind you that's down from enough ornaments to decorate THREE trees & junk to devcorate TWO houses at the same time. Christmas themed clothes...Yep got tons. AS I've worn things to work this month & wash them they've actually gone straight into the Goodwill boxes. The sweatsheirts/denim are keepers. Really, I'm sure a sane woman doesn't need many embroidered sweaters.& vests need as a fuull timer?

Hope you all have a great holiday no matter where you are. And by this time next year i hope we've gotten to meet some of you out there!
Linda

Two 14 gal Rubbermaid Tuff tubs will stack nicely with room enough to clear assorted stuff that hangs down from the basement ceiling. On long trips I usually have 10 or so along with other containers of various sizes. A few smaller Tuff Tubs are handy also, to fit in odd places. Unfortunately, I don't know the size of the smaller ones but two of those and one 14 gal will fit if there is nothing hanging down. With late model Excels I don't think the heights varies between models. Don't forget lighting in the basement, in mine I installed batttery operated led lights.

Linda, slow down! After you purchase you’re unit and are in it looking, will you be able to determine what size storage boxes you can use. The basement can very from what you order and want. I purchased a new trailer last summer and I did not want the generator box. With out this it gave me much more storage. I took the slide out storage tray from my previous unit and installed it in my new unit. This one is a double drawer and I liked if for my tools. I think that the one offered now is a single. I had plastic boxes in my overhead compartments in the living quarters and could not transfer them because the new unit’s was 1” narrower. You will not need a large wardrobe full timing. You have to remember that everyone you meet are new and have never seen that top before, so it will last for years and not a season. Book2
