Seems to me I read a discussion about hanging storage somewhere, but I can't find it. I want to add some hooks or something to my front basement storage area. Have a steel generator box there. Hang mops and such. Tubes don't make it here.

Anyone have suggestions, or point me to a discussion? I looked in vain in the Best Practices and Restoration 101.

Thanks as always.

Bruce....you are driving me nuts with all your requests!!! Just kiddin'

Just a couple real quick ones. Here is a post from Virg sometime back on areosol can holders which I put on the back of my genbox in the basement. Rack for holding aerosol cans Post #9. They work great.

Also remember that the fabric inside the basement works great as a Velco patch holder. Can mount light things on the wall.

I also added 3 eyelets on the backside of the genbox (up high) in the basement and used light bungee cords to store my sewer hose drain co-extrusion (both whole and halfed) Polyethylene Solid Drainage Pipe - 4550010 at The Home Depot. Used to cover my slinky hose while parked a while to prevent UV damage, support and have a clean look.

Just a few quick ideas! rockin'

Don't hesitate to question workhorse on organizational stuff....the man is beyond help in this areana! His setup in the basement and garage looks like something out of "Better Homes and Trailer Stuff" magazine!!!

What are you complaining about? Near as I can tell, you have a short trip.

You keep your sewer hose pipe in your storage bin? I'll bring my own chairs next time I visit you.

Thanks for the reply tho. I think I'll start out with a few hooks on the back wall, for the mop and other hangy items. Maybe a bungee on a hook too to hold my 5 gallon diesel can.

We takin' six weeks of supplies for our trip to AK. So anything I can shift forward will give me more room for vittles.

Can't say I can live up to Rockin's view of my storage compartments but will try.

Having an older unit...my storage is smaller than the newer units and the height isn't as high. I also have the metal generator box in the front...and have wondered if the box wasn't there if the front storage would be bigger.

Tool storage on one wall...looks like I travel to do landscaping while on site...but. The plexiglass window was added, no sliding door, to keep an eye on the 'stuff' going on behind the panel. Can easily see the tank and hose. Have a moisture monitor there as well as the other side with the water pump.

I made all my hangers in this area using aluminum flat bar material, should be able to get from Lowes/Home Depot or other hardware store. A hacksaw and file to make what one needs. It's easy to cut and bend to make a hanger for most anything.

The tools/handles for the spare tire and manual crank for the slide were hung on the compartment door...always in the way. Moved them to the frame and in the corner out of the way. These spring clips do a good job of retaining the items and if a hook isn't needed....

Left side of front compartment....carry a torque wrench, tool box is a film canister storage box I found. Drawers are deep and provide plenty of tool storage and the height allows room for two small tool bags that carry bosch drill, driver, flash light, charger items from the shop and a small portable bag with the meter and 'quick responce' tools.

Have a small pouch storage for things I don't use often enough but have easy access. I installed a 12' deep wire shelf about 4 inches from the top and it has worked well.

On the right side, I wanted a shelf and needed something that didn't take up a lot of space with the frame. I determined what I needed to have and made a shelf out of 3/4" ply, rounded the corner to keep from hurting myself with the edge and wrapped it with a 2" aluminum flat bar to retain the stuff. A 3/4" aluminum pipe/tube was used as a single leg to support one end of the shelf. The back and right side are supported by two sections of 1", 90 degree aluminum angle that can be screwed to the metal box. The shelf is then screwed to the angle. Takes up little space and is light in weight.

I hung the extention pole I use to wash the bugs off using two hooks. There is a smoke detector on the ceiling, have one in each compartment and been think of adding one to the back of the Refrig compartment...still thinking.

If you can't find the hanger hardware you want...consider using some aluminum flatbar. It has worked for me.

See what I mean? This is an awesome setup for the room he has. Like Chris said, the storage are in the basement on the Beast is much smaller than most of our units. Great job workhorse and thanks for taking the time to share your work of art. rockin'

Great job Workshop. Everything has its place. Now if I can convince myself I don't need to have all the stuff I have. Most everything is in plastic crates that stack. Haven't even gave a lot of thought to the generator compartment since I thinking of putting four batteries and inverter up there sometime down the road.

Don't have a need for a portable wine cooler as I only drink a little at a time and only need one bottle. I keep it in the pantry.

A pantry for one bottle of wine. Holy Cow Still. You have enough pockets in those bib overhauls to handle a case!!! You asked for it.

Remind me to bring a bottle or two when we come to "camp out" in your backyard. ..........I can see Billie now......turn out the lights and get on the floor.....they'll think we ain't here!!!

Just so you know I do carry more than just landscape tools in that bay...I removed everything to take a picture.

When I upgraded from a 29' single slide to a 33' triple...I lost outside storage space. Couldn't believe what I removed from all those areas. Needless to say had to make choices on what went back in and what I wanted to carry. Ended up being a good thing. I carry enough tools to almost rebuild the Beast on the road...and rather carry that than lawn chairs. But still have some growth room left and at 14,350 lbs, glad to be so light.

Wine cooler and one bottle in the cabinet....with my allowance I have to keep it in a cooler, it taste better cold!

So not to be 'Off Topic'__hope the flatbar thing works out. Can't imagion packing for that trip. Sounds like a good trip.

OP here.
?

Godwin's Law (also known as Godwin's Rule of Nazi Analogies or Godwin's law of Nazi Analogies) is a humorous observation made by Mike Godwin in 1990 which has become an Internet adage. It states: "As an online discussion grows longer, the probability of a comparison involving Nazis or Hitler approaches 1."

This forum holds to Tom's Rule, "As an Excel discussion grows longer, the probability of mentioning Oakleaf approaches certainty."

I bought a few cheapo hooks today at Lowes. I like your ideas of tool clips and Closetmaid wire shelving. I used the shelving in my laundry closet and still have some hardware left.

The more gizmos I can hang on the walls, the more paper products I can store up front. We just bought six weeks of food and household supplies at Costco, figuring the number of weeks till we see one again in Anchorage.

We're completely ready for excretions from any orifice, if you catch my drift.

Actually, we're stripping out all unnecessary stuff, including decorations, extra dishes, and the TV. Less weight and easier to set up and tear down for travel on rough roads.

Oakleaf.

Most sense that you made in a long, long time.....thanks for sharing.

The ride to AK oughta put the old rig to the "shake test".

Seriously, have fun, be safe, and enjoy the beauty that that state offers.

Oakleaf sipper.....
