Hi,
My sewer hose (on 2005 33' Excel) has sprung leaks. To replace it I need to get inside the Pivot Ease. Where/How do I disassemble Pivot Ease to undo old hose and attach new? Is there a brand of hose more durable than others? I am mechanically "Declined" so the more basic the explanation the better.
Thanks,

Retread,
Disconnect the large white 'Pivot Ease' tube where it's attached to the sewer connect -- large rubber fitting. Remove the 'Pivot Ease' assembly and replace the sewer hose. Reinstall the 'Pivot Ease' tube.
Big Excel welcome to the forum -- please don't be a stranger!

First thing welcome to the forum! We have lots of fun here!
On the E-Z Pivot, the system is very simple. To gain access simply loosen the large the hose clamp at the end of the 5" pipe closest to the trailer (e-z pivot itself) the tube will simply slide off over the hose. Once removed the sewer hose can be removed. Simply turn counterclockwise to remove the bonnet connection. You can install the new sewer hose (15 foot hose is standard from PI). I did cram a 18 ft. piece in mine though. I suggest a decent grade sewer hose 15 mls or heavier. It's worth the price. Also I recommend putting a piece of duck tape under the hose clamp connections on the sewer hose to prevent the clamp from cutting the sewer hose itself. There are some other good info on the E-Z pivot in this forum by doing a search. Hope this helps! Here's a link to an article that workshop did-go to article # 77. click here rockin'

Advice appreciated.
Sounds so simple that a four year old could do it. Maybe I'll ask grandaughter to help.
Thanks,

Retread, Welcome!! The guys did a good job explaining everything to you but……when you reassemble make sure the drain holes are on the down side of the Easy Pivot. PS Black electrical tape is easier to work with...

A big welcome from me to, Retread!!
While we're on the subject, is there anything unique I should do to the hose in the pivot ease when I'm winterizing the trailer? I'm use to taking the sewer hose off, draining, letting it dry, and storing it inside on my travel trailers. Should I put a few ounces of anti freeze in there as a safety measure? (...and, yes, it's been brought to my "attention" that if I'm having to winterizing the unit, I'm obviously not using it for its intended use. )

Davydee, I don’t think I’d worry about a couple of tea spoons of liquid in your sewer hose.

Retread,
Welcome to the Excel Forum. We hope you will join in the fun and frivolity. Mostly we enjoy ourselves but occasionally, we actually help each other.
I have a couple more suggestions. When you replace the hose, I suggest not to go overboard on quality. The higher the mil number, the thicker the plastic and the thicker the plastic, the harder it will be to stuff it back into the pivot ease in cooler weather. I think the right number is 15 mil. There may be other opinions.
My other suggestion is to keep the plastic pipe covered when you pull it out of Pivot Ease. I think sun is the worst enemy of this plastic. I think it lasts longer if you keep it out of the sun. Spraying it with 303, Armorall or Dri-Wash n Guard will also help protect it.
And last, it is so nice to have someone else on this forum who admits they are not a mechanical genius. I was tired of being the only one here who could not change a washer hose when I arrived on the scene. WELCOME!

Good morning Retread,
SKIA taught Virgil most everythnig he knows.
I put Rhino hose on my 2003 Excel and it was to heavy. So stick with what Virgil said 15 Mil or less. Everybody else has got it right.
Just becareful with what SKIA tell ya.

MakinSmoke, you are right about the sun. A year in Arizona (uncovered) did it in. Now reside in Oregon so much less sun.
Replaced hose yesterday with no problems. Could not test since in dry storage right now. Find out in a few weeks on a trip to SoCal.
This is a fantastic forum. I have been nosing around and love it. Wish I had found it years ago.
Thanks again,

Here's how rockin' prevents the UV from eating up his hose! The piece of 4" co-ex just slides over the sewer hose and fits right up in the E-Z Pivot when traveling.
When an extension of sewer hose is needed, I just add a piece of the co-ex to the existing piece. Then I cut a piece of co-ex length wise to make a "clamp shell' effect. I use small bungies to hold everthing in place. Here the pic shows them stowed away for travel in the bay.
