Batteries 101

Group 27 = 12 ¾ x 6 7/8 x 9 1/2H ............ 160 MIN @ 25 amps draw 80* temp

6 Volt = 10 ¼ x 7 1/8 x 11 1/4H 366 MIN @ 25 amps draw 80* temp

12 Volt Batteries = Each battery added increases number of minutes.
2 group 24 = 280 minutes 4 group 24 = 560 minutes
2 group 27 = 320 minutes 4 group 27 = 640 minutes

2 - 6 Volt Batteries Wired in Series DO NOT increase number of minutes.
4 – 6 Volt Batteries Wired 2 pairs in Series, then both banks in parallel Double number of minutes
2 - 6V wired in series = 366 minutes
4 – 6V wired in series/parallel = 732 minutes

Accurate but not relevant.. What we need to know is amp hours

Group 24, around 70-75 amp hours at the 20 hour rate
Two of them in parallel double that,

Six volt, abotu 220-230 at the 20 hour rate
Two of them in series make 12 volts (no change in amp hours)
Call those two "A pair"

Two pair in parallel 440 to 460 (Again you add pairs in this case)

Think of each pair just like you would a single 12 volt battery,, Forget if that's a 4D or an 8D but one of those is almost exactly a pair of sixes, only of course it is also twice as heavy as a single six, which is one of the two reasons six volt batteires are so popular.

The other has to do with internal construciton and chemistry (DEEP CYCLE) It is hard to find true deep cycle in that weight class (Though you can find true deep cycle 12 volt's easily enough, have used them, but someone else picked 'em up... With a fork lift!)
