I have 2006 33rso Limited I purchased new in 2007. I was waxing camper when I put my hand under the bedroom slide and noticed that back outside corner was soft on bottom. I had noticed that rust had stained the plastic on bottom of slide where roller runs. I should have thought about the rust a couple years ago, did not think about moisture problem. I have July date with Jack to get it fixed. Has any one had problem like this. We store camper inside whennot being used. I think it might have happened when it set on dealer lot.

Hello,
well I really hate to say my wife and I have the same problem except it is with all our slide out floors!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We had this built in 2005 and noticed it last summer. The way I noticed it was we was having a hard time with our bedroom slide going back in, I would have to give it a nudge to get it going and it would skip going back in. So I called my mobil RV repairman (he's a mechanic at a Excel dealer in Brockton) he has scene this problem many times. He knew exactly what the problem was. He checked all our slide out floors and it was all bad news!! All the slide out underbellies was soft!!! I check my caulking all the time, it was not the caulking, I could of cried!! So I called Excel and talked to Jack late last summer, He was understanding and we set a date of this May to bring it out, that was his closest open date we could get it repaired. (We full time in Ma) They do there new Excel slide outs a different way now he said. So our Journey to Kansas starts May 20th. Wish us luck!!!!

Oh my, how we can relate to both of you. We have a 2007 36RDO and when our rig was 23 months old we discovered that the bedroom slideout floor was rotten. Actually it was found when we were in SC at service center. Was raining the night we were parked outside waiting to put rig in shop for 2 year warranty check-up. When the techs pulled the bedroom slideout in, they noticed an excessive amount of moisture coming from floor area. Sure enough, it was rotten and stayed an extra two days there to get that fixed. Good thing we were there anyway and still under warranty. I sure hope for all the new owners sake that this has been resolved cause the moisture issues just make you sick when you find out there's a problem. Took 2 years to get the leak issue figured out under the shower. Good Luck to both of you....

As you notice I have a 2010 and we were justat SC and had our Bedroom floor replaced. I found it was soft 2 weeks after we bought it. I found where the water was coming in the top of the slide. Fixed that but of course it won't dry out inside there once it gets wet. When they opened it up there was a 1 foot by 2 foot spot in floor total wet and soft. Keep a close watch on the outside corners of your slides. They redid all of mine while I was there. I looked at the 2011 and in my open they still have not fixed the problem.

Sorry to hear about the moisture problems others have had...I have had my share of moisture problems but luckly none on the floor. After rebuilding a slide wall, was surprised that there wasn't a problem with the floor and no reason there shouldn't have been.
Been looking at prior pictures of my units trim and caulk that have been taken as projects were started and in progress to possibly do a photo post on areas I think are problem or concern areas on my 2001 unit. Considering my units age and the updates that have been to the trim...and NOT knowing what the 2005-2010 trim looks like...can't say it would be the same__but possibly close?
Any care to send me some pictures of the newer trims and what the slide floor/wall looks like. If so I'll try to work them into the post.

It was my understanding that the side slide walls were to overlap the floor to prevent water colllecting on the slide floor on the ends. But on our October build 2010 model it just like the previous models and flush with the floors. Maybe Bryan will chime in and share his vast knowledge here!! rockin'

I can add that I have a 2005 Limited 36CLO bought new in 2007. I have 5 slides. Four of them have been replaced under warranty two separate times. Immediately after the last time they were replaced and since my warranty had expired but my floors had rotted twice, I asked if Excel would replace them a third time under some sort of extended warranty. They declined but said they thought they had fixed them properly this time and they should not rot. I'll let you know how it works out for us.

I'll let you know how we make out after our trip to Kansas (from Hingham Mass) I'm actually looking forward to the trip, (my wife is dreading it!) Jack said it would take about 5 days to fix (worst case scenerio) and we will have to find a motel close by to stay while its being repaired. He said the slide outs will have to be totally removed. Now i'm thinking about all our stuff thats in the slide outs?????? (books,DVD's Stereo equiptment, Xbox 360, etc...) ok now i'm worried!!!!!!! . Just want it fixed correctly so I don't have to worry about the mold and mushrooms i'm picking by the slide outs from the water damage.
Take care my Excel friends
Eddie

I have some picture of the tops of my slides where I believe the water gets into slide. How do you get pictures on this forum?

What is it called AND where do we get a roll of that White tape used in selling the seams of the roof and slide-outs? I have noticed that our current and previous coaches have a very nasty habit of poking holes in them on the outside corner edges of the slides. When you gently rub your fingers over these edges you can feel sharp protrusions underneath that no doubt require a tremendous amount of preventative maintenance to prevent water intrusion at that point. It seems there needs to be a 90* underlying cushion or something to prevent it from becoming a disaster in the making? There are enough other potential trouble spots that already exist, this one could be lessoned with 2 - 3 layers of this tape over the edge corners.
Right now I am cleaning my coach with Ultra-Ion and have discovered two of my slide-out corner edges poking through the single layer of tape, it seems just the action of the side rubber seals rubbing on the way in and out are all that is needed to have those sharp edges poke through the tape.
I have the RT with the rubber roof. Does those folks with the Limited editions have fiberglass roofs on the slideouts or rubber also????????
Thanks,
Dave

Click on the paperclip in the editing tools section above, it then allows you to attach photos that you can then place where you want to.
