Well, at 5K this leaves room to do some updates and repairs and still come out very well as long as there isn't any major structural damage.

Correct, in 2003 Ford used the 6.8L.

Maybe they had the engine replaced. The 7.3 was not stock in 2003.

Seriously? In 03 they had diesels that started 7.3s. Then they went to the 6.0s midway.

Sorry for the typo. Meant to type 6.0.

Ford went from from the 7.3 to the 6.0in the second quarter of production in 2003.

Looking at the tag on the door, (from a picture on my phone) the truck was built 8/02, and the tenth digit in the VIN is a "3"

which would indicate a 2003.
at least according to the website http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vehicle_Identification_Number
