I have a 2002 30ft RGE.
After the last camp out I dumped, hooked up the flusher and could not hear it working. Usually I could hear it spraying.
Now it will fill the black tank but no spray.
I have filled the tank and dumped and refilled and dumped several times but no spraying action.

I always dump, flush, dump, add water, drive home, dump, spray again, and add some water.

Anyone had a flusher out and is there a nozzle on the end that could have fallen off?

Thanks,
Jim

red, my old buddy, good to hear from you again!

I'm no help on your problem, but if your getting water in thru the flusher, it's not stopped up. Wonder is it could be partially plugged? Does it seem to take longer to add water? If not, it just about has to be the flusher head itself. I personally haven't seen one up and personal Make sure you got the tank cleaned and drained very good and breath thru your nose. Please let us know. I don't envy you on this job. I've seen the diagram that Workshop did, but don't think even he pulled the sprayer head out to "investigate". Let us know what you find out. Tell Gloria hi for us. Don't forget...next time it's your turn!! Tom

Jim at the bottom of page 3 of "101" I posted on overview of the waste system on my 33RLE. One of the pages gives an overview of the flush system on my unit. It is above the waste outlet for the tank so that helps with the 'tank' not having to be completely drained...no worry about things pouring out.

While digging around for information and what I could find....Came real close to taking the flush unit out to see what the other end looked like. All for science you understand, but couldn't force myself to mess with something that was workin'. With it being a brass type tubing, can only imagion it has a cap/nozzle on the other end?

If you take yours out and can take a picture of it and sent it to me or Rockin', I'll update that post to show the flush unit. I'll even give you 'photo credits'.

Chris

Rockin' and Chris,

Tom, here we are talking about sewage and you are worried about eating!!!

This may be dumb but do I really need the spray if I can fill the tank and dump several times? I don't want to go thru all that mess to see whats wrong.

Rockin', yes I will buy next time, soon as the peanut butter and tuna fish shop opens again

I did look at your flush system overview Chris but didn't see what I needed.

Jim

Jim,

I don't know if I would worry about the sprayer as long as the flusher takes the water OK.
We could put it to the true test, by you having us over for MD 20-20, appetizers, a big Mexican dinner, desert and then let us use your restroom in the rig. After all has done that, then we simply do a dump and flush....that will be the true test! Got this in and not even Pretty good ehhh? rockin'

Bryan,

Any idea what the flusher looks like or how it is constructed?

Thanks,
Jim

I ,too, would be interested in knowing more about the flusher and how to access it. Mine recently stopped passing water. Check valve is not the problem, must be plugged flusher.

I put a PM to Bryan....and he's checking with his team on this and should have something soon.

Steve, you don't have you rig info on your profile or signature, so we don't know about what we're dealing with. Please fill us in. Thanks, Tom

Jim, I got my page wrong, it was under Post #15 near the bottom of page 2. Can't believe no one took me to the wood shed for getting it wrong!

Chris,

Yes, you did have the page wrong!!! I found it anyway.

It helped but still did not show the flusher itself.

Do I understand there is no check valve at the inlet to the flusher? Mine does not even have a screen.I always try and keep the rubber cap on but wonder if a wasp or something may have entered and partially plugged the flusher?

Jim

Jim,

Glad you found it without my direction.

My inlet does not have a check valve in the inlet. The drawing that came with my unit's paper work shows a check valve on the discharge/outlet side of the back flow device but haven't seen one on my unit.

As the Watts back flow info states not to have constant pressure on the inlet side of the device, not having a check valve allows the water in the system to drain out on both sides of the device when not in use.

My understanding of the operation is:

1. the hose is connected to the flush inlet and the water is turned on.

2. water pressure raises the Float, watts name for the disk, allowing water to flow to the Flusher to clean the tank.

3. pressure is removed and the water that's in the line drains to the tank on the outlet side of the back flow.

4. with pressure removed and the hose is disconnected, the Float seats and the water on the inlet side drains. No water is in the flush tubing when not in use.

5. the back flow, being mounted under the vanity, is several feet above the waste tank and should be safe from any back flow from the tank is the system is operting correctly. The Float being seated would keep anything from flowing backwards. As with Bruce's 'Buzzing' can't figure out where the pressure would come from other than the Float not seating.

I have installed screens on all my water/waste flush inlets where a water hose connects. Had a piece of debris get into the water system from the end of the hose years ago and ended up taking the toilet apart to get it out. Been using screens ever since.

Though I've never heard of it, it is possible for the cap to come disconnected from the flush nozzle. As you can see in the picture it is glued on. My suggestion would be to leave that one there and just drill another one into the tank. It's a fairly uncomplicated procedure. The room is just a little tight is all.

I hope this helps and I hope I posted the picture correctly.
