Diesel Guy, I called around in Northwest Iowa and found this secretary desk at a furniture outlet store in Spirit Lake, Iowa…I can not think of the stores name. I think I paid around $300.….but I might not make the Reunion and lots of other folks like me would like to see the custom upgrades that PI did for you! There is plenty of time to take and post them….Plus why do you want to take you’re time showing everyone at the Reunion when you can be having a few Miller Lites and playing horse shoes!!! Book2

OK I've 2 questions:
1. What's the total length allowed on the streets with a 5th wheel? I thought it was somewhere around 70'.
2. Isn't there a reason that the 5th wheels stay under 400 sq ft? Something about becoming a "mobile home" at 400 sq ft for licensing. Maybe if you need all that room, you should just get a mobile home and pull it around. Then you have all the room you need for everything your heart desires.

Tim,

1. Your right on with length. It does differ from state to state. Anywhere from 60' to 70' total length of truck and trailer. If I had my hitch above the axel I could pull a 45' fifth wheel. I'm 57' with the hitch 36" behind the axel. Mine is a 30' RGE

2. RVIA is the industry standard which is 400 sq. feet for an RV. Not all makers of rv's belong to the association. That is the reason why Excel's only build a 36' triple slide to stay under the 400 sq. foot rule. Even the Wild Cargo Sq. footage is under 400 sq feet and it is a 39 foot fifth wheel. They do this by having smaller slides.

Hope this helps.
