So once again I have tried to repair the propane tank strap catch. It bent out of shape and fell off.

This time, I couldn't make it work again, even comparing the catch to the other one. I tried wrapping it with chain

but can't easily get it tight, and the chain scratches the tank. Anyone offer a better solution?

Bruce,
How about putting a spring with a hook on the chain or you may be able to even to that with the strap.

Bruce you might try something like this, available from HD, Lowes or other hardware store, they come in different lengths with eyelet/hook combinations. As my unit has both tanks on the same side....don't know how much room you have to work with. It can be tightened or loosened as necessary to remove/tighten chain.
As far as the chain rub...buy a foot or as needed of clear hose from the same hardware source, that will fit over the chain, and adjust the length so it provides a sleeve bumper for the chain.

How about a ratchet tie down strap like: 1" x 14' Ratchet Tie Down - CargoGear Car and Truck Accessories
Might need some modifications to fit but it will cinch up tight and it won't scratch the thank

Thanks for the ideas. I like the ratchet strap if I can find a short length like this. I favor the original strap, but $14 shipping on a $5 item is more than I can bear.
So likely I will look for the turnbuckle hook/eye and clear hose. I recall thinking of this at the truck stop when I discovered the problem, but didn't have the part.
On to the next challenge...can you say "lag bolt?"

Bruce, I have a 1" ratchet strap. I'll see you tomorrow after church and you can see if it will work for you. I am missing a strap on my tank also so if you if you would like to order the original maybe we could split the shipping. See you tomorrow.

Allan, my new (temporary) neighbor, fixed me up with a ratchet strap. He is smarter than I am, and better prepared!
I'd take a picture, but it's raining now, and I'll forget tomorrow.

Bruce...
Rather than see you use a "make-shift" strap, if you'll call Vicki in parts she'll send you a complimentary strap. I told her you might be calling so she's expecting your call.

Well thanks there Bryan. Very nice of you it is.
And I was just getting ready to call Vicki for a part to repair some self-inflicted damage. I still think that rock made the first move.
Do you ship entire slides, but with a different TV? I'll need it soon too.
