Our Excel buddies Ron and Belinda have definitely have hit a "bump in the road" in their FT lifestyle. They have a '08 36FLR Limited (this unit was the FLR that was on display at the Excel reunion-one of the last built). Unfortunately, they got hit broad side by a car. Fortunately, no one was hurt badly, just their rig. Look at the hit at the pinbox. That's a hard hit and the side structure doesn't look that bad......shows how tough the Excel is built structurally. The roof was cut off the car to gain access to the folks inside.

Here is a link to their blog. Blog Belinda is going to post more pix soon. This accident happened in Kansas, so they are having PI fix it, but they will be out of their rig until at least August. What a bummer, but so glad they are OK. rockin'

Thanks for the info Tom. I hadn't heard about this. Glad the car was a little late getting to that spot or this could have been real serious. I know they were real proud of this rig.

No problem still, we met up them in Terlingua, TX.......I went over and introduced myself and started talking FLR stuff and then KS stuff....like old home week. They hale from Topeka. Nice folks, but we shouldn't hold that against them. They know a bunch of my friends in the KS club. rockin'

Sorry to hear about their troubles. Ron and Belinda stopped by and introduced themselves to my wife and I at El Dorado State Park in April. We ran into them again in Topeka while checking out Shawnee lake. Glad no one was hurt.

IIRC....They are members here, but not that active.....don't know their IRV2 handle.
The folks in the car were banged up a little and taken to the hospital to be checked out. They cut the roof off cause they thought the injuries were more serious. Looks like one of those Toyota sport cars....I can't really tell......I just don't my cars.....I guess.

Tom I did finally add some more pics of the accident. Still in a hotel. Still waiting for an estimate of the damage.

Bryan,

Thanks for putting all that steel down there. I doubt that many SOBs would have stood up this well. Please help Ron and Belinda get back out on the road ASAP. We need those FLRs out there to advertise The Beauty Of The Back Boor!

Yeah...for sure....there are many attributes of the FLR I miss. Cabinets and storage on the inside especially in the LR. But then again I like things about the new Journey too. The warmth of the hickory wood is the main thing, cabinets above the bedroom clothes closet. Access to the vacuum cleaner (bag service) and the Manablock features and of course, water filter access. Hydraulics at this point seem to be nice, too. No more open bath for me, simply due to the tight confinements of the stool room. Holy Mackerel, I think just another 6" for your knees would do it. When your a big boy (or girl) like me, ya havta open the door to wipe!!! TMI! Can I get a witness? Mr. Godby, I think you have an open bath, don't ya??? rockin'
