We finally tried out the convection part of our new microwave convection oven. And turned it off after a few minutes. We detected a smell of burning something, maybe rubber or insulation.

Anybody else get that from a new oven?

I had a similar situation in my R1874. In fact, there was a plastic cicle hanging down from the oven light cover. I came to the conclusion(right or wrong) that the light cover had a piece of protective plastic film on it when it was installed which hadn't been removed. Once that was gone, the problem went away.
