I'm thinking of replacing the cheapo cabinet door latches that came on the RT. Bottom of the line at the home centers. What type of latches do the higher end Excels have? Right now I'm thinking of going with magnetic. Any comments?

I imagine the RT has the same latches as our Classic. My first thought was "I don't thing magnetic is the way to go", but the glass door over the entertainment ctr has yet to come open. We've only had one door come open in transit, but can understand why you want to upgrade. Our problem was drawers and my dealer installed new latches on them. When I actually had time to do woodworking, I bought alot of supplies from www.rockler.com. they have several to choose from. Good luck and have fun.

I don't trust an door latches. I use either childproof slider latches or bunge cords to tie everything closed. I don't think there are any latches one the market that will keep doors closed with the condition of our highway systems unless they are a postive locking latch. We just got back from about 4500 miles and the roads are in the worst condition that I can ever remember. Traveling at 60 MPH it felt like I was on the fun rides and the local fair

I would just stay with the stock latches and take other measures to ensure doors stay closed. It doesn't take my wife and I longer than a few minutes to fasten them all down. If we are just staying for a night we just take the ones off the cabinet doors we need into. We leave the childproof lock hanging on it to remind us to button it back up in the morning. When we stay lonnger we take them all off and store them in one drawer so we know were they are at when it comes time to move on.

We have the air hitch and trailair center point suspension and this helps on the rough roads. one HH friend used yarn to hold the knobs together. Butch 50 would the lock you showed rub and bang on the cabinet? but as I always say a good idea is a good idea no matter who thinks it up. chevman

Thanks for the comments. I guess my reason for wanting to change/upgrade is not because they come open during transit. This hasn't happened so far so I guess they're quite satisfatory in that respect. The reason is that they are so noisy when you close he door. The loud pop is just annoying especially if someone is trying to sleep.

Larry,

I have used these childproof locks on 4 different 5erss and have never had a problem with them rubbing the cabinets doors.

I have never had a cabinet open either but I like having the extra security to make sure that they don't open behind slideout and bust a cabinet door. I still check them out before I run the slideoouts out but just in case I forgot that one time

I know what you mean about noise. I'm an early riser and I leave kitchen doors unlatched at night so I can make coffee etc. w/o disturbing my wife. Maybe something like this would help. I put them on the kitchen cabinets at home that I built.http://www.rockler.com/product.cfm?p...&filter=bumper
