Thomas, one of those "why didn't I think of that?" -- purchase several of those disposable syringes and you're ready to caulk. I've found that the precharged caulk canisters keep longer than the standard tubes.

I'se talking about DAP "Alex Plus" 35yr Caulk with silicone. Comes in a aerosol can that keeps the caulk from drying out -- easy to clean nozzle and control the amount of caulk discharged. As we would say back home, "slicker than snot"!
