When we stayed at Organ Pipe we had pack rat get under the hood & chewed up the insulating cover and made a nest back of the battery compartment. We didn't notice till oil change time & mechanic pointed it out. We carried it all the way back to Tucson.

When we were there we seen a lot of people leave their car hoods up half way. I ask the attendant at the gate and she said it was to keep the pack rats out of their engine compartment. Pack rats like closed in areas and if the hood is up it doesn't feel closed in to them. I also heard you can leave a light on under your hood and that will deter them from nesting there.

You were lucky they didn't chew your wiring under the hood, the park attendant said that happened to her.

Sorry it took so long to get back to this thread. Been in an area with limited cell and no wifi.

I removed the first light up top on the drivers side and pulled some wire. I found a bad ground connection. Fixed that and all is good.

Thanks for the help.

Thanks for the update dmc......would you mind sharing the location of the bad ground? I assume that fixed all the upper clearance lights. rockin'

Clearance lights

After I took out the first light and checked the connection I pulled out some more wire.

I found a loose wire on a connection about 18" back.

It was the ground wire for all of the upper lights. Once I fixed that all the lights were working again.

Thanks. I assume that the clearance light you refer to was the one to the left as you look at it from the rear. rockin'
