Last week I made note on another thread that I had experienced terminal damage to the right front G614 on our trailer and had replaced the tire at the BOHICA (Bend Over Here It Comes Again!) Tire Co. in Sacramento, CA. Subsequently the Inquiring Mind, Washout, requested that I post photos if possible. The tire appeared to have been damaged by running over something on the roadway. The first photo shows a diagonal pattern to the right of the finger, with significant wear scallops at both sides of the photo. The second photo shows a vertical ridge on the side of the tire.

Following the tire replacement I had the Mor/ryde IS system re-aligned at Henderson's Line Up in Grants Pass, OR (recommended by Mor/ryde Customer Service). Although I had a factory alignment 3,000 miles earlier the right side of the trailer was in need of an alignment, presumably due to the same incident as destroyed the tire. I would recommend this outfit for the work I had performed.

Thanks for the photo....I blew the first photo up and don't see the issue you are talking about. Clearly on the second photo the issue is obvious. I also see the DOT date code is 1210 which is fairly fresh (indicating to me second generation GY 614s). I will trust you hit something on the tread part of the tire.

Remember to take it slow and easy in AK.....my techie friends tell me about 95% of rig failures are speed related in AK!!! Especially with a 5th wheel. rockywashout

rockywashout - now there's a handle for you!

Yes, the damage was to the tread. Sorry about the poor photo quality. This was indeed a relatively new tire which I installed last spring as part of a new set of replacement tires. You will recall that I neglected your sage advice to replace my G614s at 30k miles and subsequently experienced a tread peel-off at 33k miles (You were right on target, Tommy.) with 110 psi, inspected that morning. But I digress.

As to speed in AK,, you will recall that I have previously posted here (many miles ago) that I rarely made it to within 10 mph of the speed limit in AK. Further (more off-topic), the only damage our trailer ever sustained in AK was the result of hitting a frost heave at an excessive rate of speed, 40 mph in this case. Anyway, for the reminder, Tom.

And, for those who might be considering the Mor/ryde IS system, it is a fine suspension system and I've had excellent experience at the factory. However, you might want to get a list of the alignment shops which Mor/ryde recommends for this system. Just a suggestion.
