Dealer service Comments?

We are in San Angelo Tx and lo and behold theres an Excel Dealer and Service Center here; American Truck and RV. Manager is Harvey. We may have them do warranty work on the Didymop versus going to Moriarty where its still cold as a dickens in the morn. Our main problem is with the furnace and black tank so we are avoiding the freezing temps right now.

Anyone had service work done here? Comments.
Thanks. The Sarges

Absolutely. We live here and American Truck and RV are excellent. We have bought 4 RVs from them and just had them install a basement sliding tray and a 4 step entry steps in our Excel last Friday. Good people. Tell them Jim sent you. That won't get you anything extra but they will respond.

Contact me and maybe we can visit.

Jim

Had a great visit with Sir Skypilot Jim and Frau RuthAnn in San Angelo today (photo to follow at another time). The Excel dealer here sounds super but we opted to head on up to Moriarty and let Ralph and Kevin work on the Didymop since they specialize in Excels and the dealer here has all kinds SOBs. We will tolerate the below freezing temps for only one night.

When 2 or more Excel-ers get together is that a rally?

Hello
San Angelo is our home base. We have dealt with this dealer and like them. They have been fair and honest with us. Ted does most all of his own work, so don't have any real experience with the shop. The service department has steered him in the right direction on several problems. Would love to visit with you while you are in the area. Come out and see our in process "74 CJ5 Jeep. She is a beaut and almost ready for use this Summer in Colorado. Hope you find all of San Angelo hidden gems.

Sorry we didn't hear from you before we left SA and headed to Moriarty NM. Thanks for the kudos for the dealership but we opted to drive here. As it was they had to replace the black tank and had one on site. San Angelo folks would have had to order one. So we made the right decision to come back to where our journeys with this HOW began in NM. It's all great.

Beth, what happened to the black tank that required replacement?

What were the symptoms?

There was a 2-foot long slight separation at the weld along one of the top long sides of tank. Not sure why it happened; looked like the result of a bad assembly. Ralph Kevin and Billy replaced with a new one that is never going anywhere. We also received our new model black tank 101 lesson.

Even tho I would have loved staying at the lake another week we're really glad we hoofed the 450 miles from San Angelo to Moriarty in one day to have these wonderful folks share their skills and knowledge and hugs with us.

Thanks for asking. It's all good.

We learned that there is a difference in size and depth of black tanks. The one on Didymop I was different from the one on our new-Didy. Hence it empties and rinses with a different technique than what Lee was used to.
