Our 33RSE is the first trailer we have had with the Dexter Nev-R-lub bearings. In our owners manual and on Excel's web, they recommend greasing the wheel bearings at least once a year. All my Dexter info says they don't need greasing and give no advice on how to do it. Have any of you long time Excel owners had any experience with this? Do I need to grease the bearings or not?
Thanks for the advice.

IMO, the statement on PI's site applies to regular axle wheel bearings and not the Dexter Nev-R-Lub bearings. I've asked this question before at my dealer and another RV service center and the answer is the same, our Dexter axle bearings do not require greasing.

Ditto on what Chief says...The Dexter folks tell you to leave them alone! Just another point of interest is if you have the wheels off the ground there is some normal end play looseness; I think about .020-.030.inch. Normal. Also some wheel seals "weep" grease. Normal. This usually indicated with small streaks of grease residue on the wheel when it hasn't been washed in a while. Just FYI. Things I learned along the way. Tom

Thanks for the info. I will just grease the shackles and then start waxing.

Even if you wanted to, you couldn't grease the Nev-R-Lub bearing. They are a sealed bearing, similiar to those used on the rear axle of a front wheel drive vehicle. They do go bad on occasion, and you just replace the whole bearing.
