Does your mattress stay up when you lift it up to use the storage underneath? Do those hydraulic supports hold the weight, or must you hold up the mattress while your partner digs around underneath?

Mine's 8 mo. old and the mattress will fall on your head. The struts are not even close to holding it up. What is the fix here ? warrenty, or just go out and buy heavier struts, or add a strut ?

Bruce,
On our 07 the bed stays up just fine. I do see another thread here that discusses replacement Struts though you should be under warranty I will link it for information anyway.

Bruce...your title line really got my attention....shame on you!
Ours stay up fine. If we have something on top of the bed (extra heavy blankets, extra pillows, etc.) that has a little weight it will tend to fall.
And as with any gas filled struts...the colder the temp....the less they hold.

Ours doesn't stay up, either, but I always thought it was a function of being a king size bed and, thus, heavier. Maybe we should be looking for heavier struts? Although it's not a huge problem since we don't get under the bed very often.

Ours will stay in place when it is pushed all the way up.

This could get real kinky......but I made a promise to be "GOOD". This isn't much fun! But promises are promises.

We have 07 unit and thus far no problems with the struts; however our Cari-lite bed did fall down so we replaced the struts with automotive struts that hold the hatch back lids up. Didn't have any problems after that. Any Autozone or O'Reilly's etc. should carry them - they have weight limits listed on the pkg.

Our current gas struts are rated for 85# each. We will bring in some 100#. This should give plenty of lifting power. That might also let us back them up closer to the hinge in order give more lifting height.
Of course, this will effective upon receiving the struts and then only on future models.
Thanks to everyone for your input. This is a small change that will make a nice improvement to our product.
Bryan
