Very glad to stumble on this site. As a long time member and creature of habit, I didn't realize it was right here under my nose. I always monitor the Winnebago, site as I currently have a 03 Horizon pusher which we enjoy. However life keeps changing and as we are now planning on changing our RV habits, less travel, more stationary parking, have been considering changing to a 5R. The Excel has surfaced on top of my wish list and I think the 33RSE Classic with a few options is what I will pursue. My next step will be selecting a dealer to work with and the dealing process. Oh Joy! I guess it keeps life fun!
I've read all the posts in this forum and just want to say thanks to all as you have helped me at least make a manufacture decission. Any insight anyone can offer on the 33RSE will be appreciated.

Welcome Ace -- we also went from a DP to a 5th wheel and have not looked back!
Peterson Industries Excel 5th wheels are, IMO, in a class by themselves within their price range. Outstanding coach manufactured by a company that has not lost the "p" as in personal attention to their coach owners.

Ace,
The Excel is a proven winner. As with anything as complex as an RV there will be occasional problems, but I think the Excel probably has as few as you could hope for. You couldn't find a more personable group of folks to work with at the factory and that starts at the top and goes all the way down to the bottom. I have seen no 5th wheel with any better quality, but I have seen a lot higher price tags.
Best of luck with your Excel if you decide to buy one, they come highly recommended.

Ace,
I just bought a new (never titled) 2005 CLO from Family RV in Statesville, NC. PDI is Friday.
They have a new 2005 33RSE there and it is their last Excel...they are no longer Excel dealers. Do you read ready to deal? PM or email me for more details.

We purchased a 2007 33RSE Limitedin Nov. 2006. It is nearly perfect for my wife and I. WE got the king bed option. If you don't really need the king bed, I would stay with the queen size. It is a lot easier to get around in the bedroom.I have found nothing that i really don't like. We got electric slides and front jacks. I am still wondering if I would have liked the hydraulic better. The elctric is very slow. Do not get the LCD television option for the bedroom. It is an excellent TV, but is not worth anywhere close to $1100.00. The only reason we got it was that I failed miserably at subtracting when I was figuring it's cost. We chose the 33RSE because of it's size, the king bed, and the enclosed bathroom. My wife and I are very happy with it.
