Excel Appliances

I have the Dometic Convection oven I always use the hood light for a night light This last week the bulb burned out and I figured an easy fix, every other one I had it was an AC light bulb to replace Not this one, it is DC and I was just at a parts store with no luck. Tomorrow Russ of RV Central will be getting a call and I’ll let him figure out where I can purchase a replacement and two will be ordered. I like having replacement bulbs and fuses on hand.

I really like the automatic timer on my Norcold refrigerator For those who do not know about this feature, they installed a timer. It is either every 23 or 25 hours the timer shuts the refrigerator off for one hour. The reason is it lowers the inside temperature some and stops the fins from building up ice. The reason for shut down in odd hours is to change the time it does it every day. I do not know when it does it because there is no alarm beeping or the settings flashing during this shut down.

In the Excel brochure it says that they are installing a new hot plate. One burner is electric and the other two are gas. I wish they would have had this last year. (JanieD if you new rig is still in SC I’d be pressuring your dealer to have this one) Do any of you folks with recent deliveries have this new feature?

Hey Woody,

Doesn't the bulb have a number on it? My hood lite on my old timey Apollo has 2 - 40 watt AC bulbs. Find them anywhere (common appliance bulb-medum base). Since that is a DC bulb...that means you can run it off your house batt, right? No need for 120V.

Yeah, the heater cycle on the Norcold is fine for extending out defrosting cycles on the frig.....but is a hard on items in the freezer like ice cream!!!! I've also found in some climate situations, the overflow cup overflows when it in the heating cycle! I bypassed it and run a hose out the back of the outside refer cover. Works good. Theoretically, the heat of the refrigeration process is supposed to be enough to evaporate the water into the atmosphere....but not always.....sometimes ambiet temps are cold enough that it doesn't evaporate fast enough. I figured if they made the overflow cup a bit bigger they wouldn't have the issues. Just my opinion!

I'll have to check.....but I thought that electric burner....was an option.

Woodhicker, We ordered that option for ours but they are discontinuing it and we only get it if they have one left when it is built. Not sure why they discontinued it but I'm still hopeful it will be on ours. Hubby calling today to see if there is any word on when it will be delivered. We are hoping in the next 2 weeks. How do you like the park you are at?

Rockin, I was wrong. The bulb was a 120v 30amp. What threw me was my lights are a two prong also. After fifty years of mastering(90% of the time) righty tighty, lefty loosey I am just in awe.

It was always visible between an AC bulb and a DC bulb. But then after thinking about who is engineering and designing it is obvious it is the Lego Generation

The one on the left is the AC bulb and the one on the right is a DC bulb. Both are two pronged. The 120V one was a little pricey and they must have different spacing on the prongs. On the package there was a template for the prong spacing.

Janie, This is a very peaceful and beautiful park. All kinds of wild life and a pen with some buffalo. The little lake is very beautiful. I wish I’d found this place first instead of the Center Point one. It is open year round so by all means come on out and enjoy your new home!!! Hickory Hills reserve and camp ground. Check your Pms.

Thanks, I was thinking about my week as I was composing that post and I do really need to amp up this week! It wasn‘t an easy fix with bifocals . Good thing I have a set of glasses with the bifocals installed in the top of the lenses for working above my head!!
