I noticed that the joint between counter top and back splash appeared to be unsealed but figured they probably sealed underneath then set the back splash in place. Then I noticed dampness in the bay at that area. I took a piece of paper and stuck in the crack and sure enough it's not sealed. Guess I'll go back with clear silicon seal.

You hit the nail on the head.....mine has clear silicon. QC issue? Our rig was the first backsplash that PI produced. We love it. rockin'
